Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Yes.
Erhu:

Violin:

I also prefer the Erhu version.
Pretty sure the Erhu version plays in-game, but I'm not sure where the violin version does.

Makes one want to undertake a mixing and editing project, fading and cutting elements in and out and together in places for an extended combined version. Listening to and analyzing them initially, it sounds like large portions are identical. That would make sense: for most of the battle/stage music of the series, the instruments are sampled and/or the tracks are composited. While that has certain implications for the layers of the auditory texture of the final piece, a live orchestra is not necesary and sometimes even undesirable for these kinds of pieces.

And a secondary advantage of the multi-track approach is that certain instruments can be subbed in and out, which seems to be what was done here--although I think (unlike many other instruments in this piece) the erhu/violin parts were recorded and composited/sampled in rather than being digitally emulated and rendered. But because the two versions above seem to only vary in that one track for the orchestral strings, one could use tools as simple as cross-fading and cuts to merge the versions into one, and have the final result still probably come out more or less as clean as the originals.

SC6 Raphael face is great, what are you guys even talking about?
SC2/3 models were low polygon attempts from the past, SC4 and onwards established high detail designs that should not be tampered with, otherwise we will get another Resident Evil 7 "Redfield" disaster on our hands. We need character consistency in long-running video game franchises, leave iconic designs alone please.

Most characters' faces are like fast food items: they look great on the ad, not so great when we have them. There's a huge difference between the art and the 3D render, which is what bother me most. While indeed Raph is better looking than before and still sports his iconic traits, he would be much better if he looked closer to his art, just like most characters.

Does any know if SOUL CALIBUR 6 supports the PSN ID name change?
Tekken 7 is supported but I didn’t see SC6 on the list.

With the risk of being locked out of over 200hrs of playtime I’d rather not risk it
But I really want to change my ID! *Cries*

I find Raph kinda ugly in SCVI. I think it's mostly because he looks like he has a really big mouth and/or lips. Or maybe that's just me? In his "I will forge a new world" outro it's most noticable for me, lol. His promo art has quite a handsome apperance in comparison. I suppose I don't mind tooo much but it looks more like bad design than an attempt to make an unattractive character (especially taking the art into account).

Wait... you can finally change your PSN name? For real? I've wanted this for years 'cause I've been stuck with the stupid sh*t I came up with in college and I hate it but never wanted to make a new account and lose all my purchased stuff from the store and such.

Didn’t it say any game after April 2018 supported it though?

It's ok to have flaws.
Should developers start listening to people asking to change how actual characters (not just costumes) look, it will be a complete mess. Some people will demand characters to be made more handsome (whatever that means by their standards) and other people will demand characters to be made more ugly to combat some kind of gaze or whatever, the only possible result in trying to satisfy such demands is a complete loss of consistency between games and a complete loss of characters' identities where every face is interchangable and expendable.

My only real issue with Raph's face is how pale his lips are. It looks strange. Not sure what they were going for there.
His lips are the same color as his skin which is why it looks so weird. If you compare to Kilik's lips, Kilik's look good because they're red and have color. Maxi and Siegfried have the same problem but it's less noticeable since their lips aren't as full as Raph's are.
