Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

It's been 3,000 years

You've been lucky, I'm at the start of the queue for returning characters waiting for Li Long to return.

I've been messing around with Raphael in the lab. Is there a particular reason that the break version of his CE does so much less damage?

I'm sure the full pic is something as mundane as Hilde's reaction to the season pass 2 character list.

By the way, does anyone know which day of E3 is usually used for miscellaneous news? That is, news which isn't delivered via some kind of stream or press conference. If Namco is gonna announce a new character at E3, I'm not completely sure what day it would actually happen on.

Most likely the first day. I mean, that was when they dropped the story mode trailer at last year's E3. IIRC Okubo didn't even take the main stage for that announcement. He just talked about it in an interview hours after the trailer dropped.

So yea, my guess is on Monday we'll get the trailer.

By the way, besides E3, there will be another interesting event to check up this weekend. Taipei Major 2019, a fighting tournament in Taiwan, SC6 will be present, Okubo have already twitted about the event, also Dead or Alive 6 developers have already made a promise to announce one new DLC character and for the first time ever to show off two new DLC characters there. So this way we know it's a big enough event for trailers and announcements.

Sony is having their Days of Play event right now, and SCVI Deluxe Edition is 50% off on the PSN Store until the 17th if anyone is interested! I guess it's a good time as any to get the game and the Season Pass for a discount lol.

I haven't followed E3 in years and I'm sure things have changed a bit since they started pushing it towards more of a developer's conference rather than an open trade show and then pulled that approach back a bit, but it used to be (for the third party companies anyway) that they were spread out across the week, depending on when the publisher/developer had booked their stage presentation/main press conference--they usually tried to map most of their online reveals to that central event, unless it would leave them trailing everyone else, in which case they might reveal some details at lower-key events (small conference hall press discussions or show floor presentations), or even just booth displays with an online announcement timed accordingly. I'm sure it cannot have changed too much--I'd just see if you can find anything out about any live presentations that Namco is likely to make. Then again, Cassandra is not necessarily a groundbreaking reveal, so she could honestly be slipped in at any point.

Edit: Here we go, according to this, Namco is not doing a large stage press conference this year (that is not all that surprising--not many Japanese companies do this in a given year, with even Sony MIA this year), but it is hosting a discussion on June 11 at 5:30pm about the future of fighting games as an eSport. If they came all of the way for the event, I'm sure they will have at least some additional presence, but I see no announcements for floor shows, which is curious. Still, all things considered, I think you can have some small level of confidence that if Cassandra is slated for reveal at E3, she is likely to first be mentioned around the 11th.

there have been leaks for Namco's E3 but they only involve games such as a new TALES game, and a Ni No Kuni 1 Remaster.

So if you're looking for a Cassandra announcement it will be through social media or some stream idk.

I have no expectations for E3 cass

All Bamco E3 announcement got leak and Harada is probably very mad at it lol

So no Cassandra for E3 which honestly doesn't surprise me much, T7 had 3 E3 before it come out and in none of them they revealed a new character, i would say Cassandra will be reveal between mid June to End June. In a sens i wonder if Cassandra taking that much time isn't another hint that SC6 season 2 is actually really happening? Humm

@Dissidia I just see your post lol

Well, we don't know much about the nature of these leaks and certainly not enough to conclude that they represent everything Namco was going to discuss at E3; indeed, as this article details, the leaks came in waves and so may not have come from a single release schedule memo but rather involve an internal security matter. It's also worth noting that two of the three reveals concern outside developers who publish with Namco, rather than any of Namco's first party content. It seems unlikely to me (though not strictly speaking impossible) that Namco would make an appearance at E3 and discuss only one of it own internal projects. It would be even more inexplicable that they would show up to host a forum on the future of the fighting game genre and new developments in eSports and not have any announcements whatsoever about any of its numerous series in this area, one of the core components of its product offerings.

Long story short, Harada being upset about these leaks (as well he might) does not mean they are everything Namco had in its bag--just some big announcements they would have liked to have made on their own terms.
