Hahaha, the actual character doesn’t wear any hats or helmets, I’m just pasting them in Photoshop. You’re correct, this helm is from Skyrim, thus my signature. Yes, the arrow in the knee meme is from Skyrim too (the guards have random quips, one of which is “I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.” All of this is to say that I’m pretty obsessed with Skyrim at the moment.

Ahh, thats neat lol, nice photoshop then, i believed it was real and was about to claim a japanese gaming company was ripping off skyrim.

So the arrow in the knee thing actually came from Skyrim to? Lol! a new fresh meme, gotta look it up now, also i have some questions about Skyrim, would you... mind?

Cool.

The first two, it's a morale thing.

On a scale from 1 to 10 how would you rate the following?

Amount of Blood:

Amount of Gore:

Story:

Gameplay:

Music:

Voice Acting:

UGH THIS IS TOO FRUSTRATING, the 420 character limit is silly! OK, broken up into tiny chunks:

Blood & Gore: moderate. Some dungeons, like vampire dens, are supposed to be horrific, but it’s not the point of the game. Your weapon will have blood, enemies may get stained...

...If you are hit, your view gets some blurry drops of blood. There is only rarely any actual animation; if you do a powerful attack with the right skill, you will sometimes decapitate. Never any disembowelment, and it’s all somewhat cartoony compared to, say, Dead Space or Hollywood...

Lots of enemies, e.g. undead / spiders, don’t really have blood. There are some conceptually horrific elements, especially if you do any of the daedric quests (e.g. the goddess of decay, Namira, wants you to become a cannibal), but they’re all optional.

Story: It’s too open ended and huge to rate this. I’ve played 140 hours WITHOUT doing the two main quests (dragons and civil war), and I am fascinated; there is a huge amount of lore and detail...

...Skyrim isn’t really about “story,” it’s about experience a rich and massive world with a very believable fantasy theme to it. The best quests are very dramatic and punctuated by some incredible moments, but there is a lot of much more hum-drum “get me a chicken” stuff too. I’ll say 9/10.

Gameplay: As far as combat goes, 6 or 7 / 10. It’s imbalanced, easy, glitchy, and not very skill-based. But it’s fun and addictive and feels real what with the staggering and camera motion and force feedback etc.

The actual mechanics of walking around and exploring are a mixed bag. On the one hand, the main outdoor region of Skyrim is ASTONISHING. It’s seamless cross-continent, has the most jaw-droppingly naturalistic random weather I’ve ever seen, incredible lighting, volumetric clouds, etc.

On the other hand, unless you’re on PC, the load times every time you enter/exit doors get very annoying and discourage you from really checking out things as you see fit. Instead you find yourself prioritizing and planning where you go based on how efficiently you can complete quests without having to enter/exit too many areas.

The user interface is streamlined, but has some annoying quirks. The button to take things is the same as the button to steal things, so every now and then you WILL accidentally get impaled by angry villagers for “stealing” a piece of cheese worth one gold. Similar annoyances crop up. But mostly it works fine.

The true gameplay, for me, is wandering around this epic land, encountering its peoples and monsters and books and weather and places and experiences. Doing things like seeing an elk on a hill, and deciding to hunt it. Losing it in the chase and finding myself in a glade with a mysterious path. Following the path to a cave where I find a treasure map. That gameplay is like a 10 or 11 out of 10.

Music: 9/10. It’s very, very good ambience, but in a game this HUGE any music becomes somewhat repetitive. Now, I’m sure there are tracks I have not heard yet because I simply haven’t gone through the main quests. But it’s perfectly orchestrated, melodically and harmonically sophisticated, epic and scale and tone, and basically perfect to the extent that it could be.
Gabedamien
Gabedamien
Voice acting: 8/10. It’s mostly very well done, but you eventually learn to recognize each actor’s voice intimately since there are many, many, MANY NPCs in this game and it would be impossible for each to have a unique actor.
