    Yoshimitsu and A+K

A+K has potential. It has longer range than SCIV. If the opponent's body steps into, it counts a a hit. Furthermore, A+K can GI some verts. Specifically, I have gotten it to work on Xiba's BB. While not always practical, this means it may be useful against certain strings when there really...

SCV Yoshimitsu CE, BE, and meter Discussion

A thread to discuss Yoshi's BEs and how to best expend meter throughout a match. CE Pros: Cons: 6B BE Pros: Longer range iMCF without the chance for an input error. Potentially leads to ~90 dmg. Cons: 3 frames slower than iMCF. Could be considered a waste of a meter. 3AB BE Pros...

Based on Yoshi players testing and videos we've seen thus far, here is a list I've compiled. I have it in spreadsheet form as well and will be tracking any changes between games. Thanks for everyone's input so far in the SCR thread and video thread. Keep it coming. Please note, these moves...

    Soul Arena Posting Rules

Posters: As the transition from SC4 to SC5 occurs, we will be overhauling the Soul Arenas to their intended purpose; which is a conveyance of information related to GAMEPLAY aspects of the characters. Story, aesthetic, wishlist, speculation or CaS related information for the characters belongs...

    SCV Yoshimitsu Combos

This is a work in progress... Concerning Stun Windows The combo system has slightly changed since SCIV. The longer the combo, the shorter the stun window. Examples coming soon. Yoshi's Stuns Yoshi has three different types of stuns. Each stun can be used only once in a combo. For example, if...

SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion

Welcome to the SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion thread. Any general gameplay discussion including, but not limited to questions, general tips, and/or strategy are welcomed in this thread. As this thread will get quite messy, an FAQ will be eventually be compiled answering, of...

    Congratulations to Lolo

That's right. A Yoshi player finally earned that tournament win. A deserving Yoshi at that. Sure, there were some issues, but Lolo topped those brackets at Devastation when all was said and done. Without Lolo's early YouTube videos (and his help via MSN back in the day) I would have never been...

Gamers Fight Off Would-be Robbers From Gaming Cafe

"We're gamers, you know? We've been immersed in that culture where, like, we all want to be Superman, you know? We're missin' something partial in our brain that says, "yeah, this might be dangerous." http://www.geekologie.com/2010/08/caught_on_tape_gamers_successf.php

    Yoshi Match-up Chart

This chart was created in collaboration with Lolo. Any match-ups Lolo and I didn't agree on are noted as such in quotes. Let me preface this chart by saying that this chart is for a Yoshi who plays safe. A safe Yoshi can defined as a Yoshi that does NOT DGF K spam, spam or depend on other...

    NorCal Tourney Vids (05-09-2009)

For some reason the camera was set to landscape mode, so the first three vids are blurry. You can still somewhat make out what's going on, so I posted them. Sorry for those who participated in the tourney but aren't in the vids. One camera means limited coverage. Thanks to those who manned...

    Nor*Cal Tourney Vids (2009-04-11)

The vids I have in no particular order. Winners Finals and Grand Finals took place on a TV that had some lag issues. Manta and KrayzieCD seemed fine playing through it, though. Maybe all that online SCIV came in handy for KrayzieCD here? ^_^

    Yoshi versus....

So, while the punishment thread is amazing, knowing what's punishable doesn't completely prepare you for playing against various characters. Let's discuss anti-character stuff. Which character gives you the worst match-ups? Got a blanket solution for a problem or specific tactics to shut down...

    Non-CH 3B Follow-ups

Every Yoshi plays differently. This seems especially true after non-CH 3B. Assuming there are still some Yoshi players reading the forums, this thread is to discuss non-CH 3B combos and the strongest options you get (or don't get) after. I'll only add commentary to the follow-ups I've used...
