It's now been 30 days since the dev team uploaded a QA build to the game's Steam app entry.
Should I start arranging a funeral for our hopes and dreams of a season 3?
Here we go! A huge collection of all the artwork in SC6 (dialogue portraits, story backgrounds, character select artwork, and museum artwork): https://mega.nz/file/BFcSkZiL#NF7hMmhwEQa5MY-YHh6foqpTz9qGNsVPNM-cOlC4-xg
I made a video podcast about the Hwang DLC and announcement:
I also did a little bit of quick datamining and I couldn't find anything. And if anyone's curious, the weird Star, Stone, Yell, etc codenames are still there with no changes. My theory is still that those were red herrings added in...
The plot thickens. They updated the article again!

1: I have a really hard time believing they switched what character it is late in development (that's especially crazy considering the pandemic), so there's kinda no way it could be anyone but Hwang.
2: I have no idea what I'm looking at with this silhouette. I feel like none of the shapes...
I feel this is a sign that Namco should do teases like this more often. We all know who the character is, but a bunch of people are still saying it could be Algol.
That's a good find. 0x0A as Arthur makes sense.
I'm too lazy to double-check this by looking at game's memory, but based on one list I think the boss variants of characters in Legendary Souls and Devil Jin are immediately after Kilik. So it could be something like this:
0x3D = Kilik (SC5)
0x3E...
I know they've used the same list of IDs since SC1, but I've never bothered to figure what the IDs are in Soul Edge. I'm too lazy to look through Soul Edge's memory, but I found a list online related to how weapons are saved for each character in the savegame, and the order for the characters...
I saw people babble about the SC character ID list I made a few years ago. Here's the most up-to-date version:
Combined for entire series:
0x01 = Mitsurugi
0x02 = Seong Mi-na
0x03 = Taki
0x04 = Maxi
0x05 = Voldo
0x06 = Sophitia
0x07 = Siegfried
0x08 = Rock
0x09 = Hwang
0x0B = Ivy
0x0C = Kilik...
That looks too high-poly to be an in-game model to me. That said, I'm willing to bet the in-game model is still much more detailed than anything in SC. Poor SC is always treated like the red-headed stepchild compared to Tekken.
I was initially weirded out by all of the magical stuff Cassandra does as I played her a lot in 3 and 4, but I've gotten more used to it and I do think it's in-character the way she uses her powers. First of all, if I recall, she gains the power by stealing Sophitia's weapons, right? But more...
I know some games have guns which are larger than they would be in real life and thus the characters hands are also larger so they can hold them without it looking weird. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same thing in SC to make the weapons stand out more.
On a similar note, that also...
Here's how far you get in emulating Lost Swords:
Press start and you get kicked back to the same screen because it fails to connect to anything. I think it would be fun to see Lost Swords playable again, but it's rather unlikely since it depended on online servers.
People have actually been...
I like the idea of seeing a proper representation of a European longsword fighting style in SC (something much lighter than the greatsword Siegfried uses). I feel that's always been a big omission in SC. The closest we've had have been Ezio (but he uses a billion weapons, not only a sword) and...
SC5 runs extremely poorly for me. I'm using the latest version of RPCS3 with similar settings as that and my framerate is usually around 40. I get the same weird low-res thing when going into menus, but something similar happens randomly during gameplay too.
It reminds me of an annoyance with...
