Character specific strats

Tira Anti-Character Compendium

There's not much left to find out about Tira anymore so how about some character specific counter strategies? Tira definitely needs this edge of knowledge.

To complement these counter strats you should take a look at the punishment list.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Amy:
  • 2B+K -> Her best low. Try to keep her out of range as long as you can with 1B, 6B, 4B, JS 22_88B, A+G etc. Use 6K to put her in crouch in close range to avoid 2B+K retaliation.
  • 3BA -> Tira is in trouble when Amy uses it. The only TJs that will work against the A are JP A and JP B. JP A is bad because it's negative on hit while JP B is bad because Amy can bait it when only doing 3B and then interrupt with 6BB.
    So 3BA is totally in Amy's favor :-/
  • 33B -> On block GS 22_88A beats her aGI and 6BB afterwards.
--------------

Astaroth (feels like Tira's hardest matchup):
  • Asta in general-> frametraps are really helpfull because he is too slow. Therefore you should try to be in GS most of the match. So use GS BF 66A, GS 22_88A, 6B8 from time to time but mind that all of them are high!
  • 66A(B) -> 6K Punishes and interrupts. You can interrupt with any move that is under i22.
  • Throws (in general) -> Use 1B and 6B to bring some distance between you and asta. Don't spam TJ moves in front of him.
  • Bullrush -> Try to Step->G a lot. GS BF 44A works very well and Asta can't punish it , but don't try to use it within his throw range (GS 6B -> 44A is a usefull setup there). Be careful with stepping after FC moves like 6K because Asta's FC 3K tracks quite well.
  • Bullrush/Throw mixup: Moves with fast techcrouch frames (4B+K, GS 2A, 22K) are probably the best you can do because you can punish the throw attempt. Of course you will be hit by bullrush if Asta does it but this is definetly better than getting hit by the commandthrows.

Cassandra :

--------------
Cervantes :

--------------
Ivy :
  • SE A236A -> SHK GS B+K (or A+K if the stun is shaked off fast enough)(Credit goes to Ring)
  • SE A+B -> UPD B
--------------
Kilik:
  • 66A(A) -> 6K punishes 66A and TJs the 2nd A
  • 6AAA -> Duck WR B+K,B
  • Asura -> after moves (yours and Kilik's) with minor disadvantage or advantage ONLY attack with kicks to negate Asura. GS 3kA, GS 3K,GS_JS 66K, 6K etc. help a lot.
  • 2A -> After Kilik 2A on hit all his WS and FC moves are beaten by 6K except for WS K which you can step and FC 1B (both attacks whiff). (Credit to Mikosu)
--------------
Lizardman :
  • 66B+K,A, B-> Duck the A and immidiatly do 44K to punish and interrupt.
  • CRWL -> Tira has no tool to reliably beat and punish CRWL. The safest thing to do is UPD because it can evade all mixups from CRWL after any attack on block or hit (besides A+K of course). Keep lizzy's CRWL BT B+K in mind when you've made it behind him.
--------------
Maxi :
  • 66A -> duck the second hit and punish with 4A:A i.e.
  • 4BB -> buffer 22K with some delay after the second B. The TC of it will go under the K followup and will beat every mixup.
--------------
Mitsurugi :
  • 66B(B) -> 44K is the key! If he only does the first B it will be punished. If Mitsu does the second B Tira will receive minor damage but no KD and she gets huge frame advantage. (4A:A is a freebie) Another move with worse punishment ability is 2B.
  • 6[A]~RLC -> GS 6AAaaa and JS 2AB (only close range)beat all defensive and offensive actions, 2K counters all but jump.
  • 4[A] ~ MST -> GS 2A beats everything but MST jump. GS 44A beats all but RLC A+B+K . 22K is the safest option in JS but can be ducked and punished.
  • 11B[A]~ MST -> 4B+K is safe and beats MST. 44K, JS 66AA and GS 88B beat MST too but are risky if no stance transition takes place.
  • RLC [A]~ MST -> 44K (in JS it has to be 44[K]) punishes and beats MST options- Options without lifeloss are 6K and JS 6A
  • 44B ~ MST -> WR B+K,B
  • 4B_ -> Almost as annoying as Xiangua's 44B this can be countered on anticipation with 4B+K, GS 2A+B or backstep-G after minor blockstuns (e.g. WS B of Mitsu)

Raphael :

--------------
Rock :
  • BB -> The 2nd B can be GIed /aGIed
  • 1BB -> step the second B or GI it
  • 214A:A:A -> Train to JI the last hit. It is easier as it seems at first.

--------------
Seoung Mina:

--------------
Setsuka:
  • 1B:B -> you can GI the second B or aGI with GS B+K. When Setsuka messes up 1B:B, then non JF 1B is punishable.(Credit goes to Ring)
  • FC 3B:B -> You can GI/aGI in between just like with 1B:B (Credit goes to Ring)
  • 66BA -> Duck n' punish

--------------
Siegfried :
  • 3 -> 44K
    [*] Stancedance -> some Siegs overdo it and UPD B is a great tool in this case. GS 22_88A and JS 66AA work wonders too.

--------------
Sophitia:
  • 11A[A] -> as soon as you see the fire animation hit A+K and the second A will be GIed by an early release and the full UB will be interrupted.
--------------
Taki :

--------------
Talim :

--------------
Tira :
  • JS 6A(B)-> 6K punishes 6A and TJs 6AB
  • JS 4K(B) -> 44K interupts and punishes a single 4K
  • Groundstun 44B -> Tech to Tira's left (the opponent's Tira of course) or learn to block at the right moment to punish her bugged guardbreak followup with 4A:A
  • GS 6AAaaa-> Duck the last hits and punish

--------------
Voldo :
  • BS -> try to stick with kick attacks because of BS A+B's aGI
--------------
Xianguah:
  • 44B -> This move kills Tira, especially in JS. The most effective way to deal with it is backstep ->G after X's minor disadvantage moves (AA, BB, WS K etc.) and (whiff) punish the hell out of her. Some of Tira's moves have enough range and are fast enough to hit X out of 44K. Those are JS 1aB, GS 2A+B, GS BF 66K (can be interrupted by AA in some cases so be careful with them) and GS BF 66B.
  • SXS -> 44K is fast enough to beat it. It becomes easier if you know the common transitions because it's hard to do on reaction only.
--------------
Yoshimitsu :
  • FC 3K -> well for me this move is invisible and the only thing Tira can do about it is not to use FC moves like 6K or GS 2A+B because these beg for mixups. GS 2A+B can be rewarding though because GS BF 44A afterwards evades Yoshi's FC moves and a lot of his other stuff.
  • 66B+K, A+B, K -> 44K trades with A+B and punishes 66B+K if buffered fast enough but it's very hard to do. Ducking A+B will work but Yoshi will possibly get too far away for punishing him. GS 22A sometimes hits him behind Tira after 66B+K so Tira can followup with BT B+K,B
  • Superdragonfly -> 6B8 hits him out of it and you can combo him with GS 22A or JS 66AA
--------------
Yun (Credits go to Mikosu):
  • 236KK-> Always duck the 2nd hit and get ur throw unless the game throws you off-axis.
  • BB-> it is -2 on hit. Don't freeze up.
  • CR mixups -> Step 2G is effective against CR mixups but be careful cuz it doesn't work if he delays them.
  • CR 2KK -> it is low-high so keep ducking and get ur non-vertical punish.
  • Punish CR A+K. JS 6AB and GS 6A MSH A are good. WS K if ure lazy.
  • A+B MSH B -> ends high. So duck the GB and punish.

--------------
Zasalamel:
  • 6AB -> Duck WR K _ Duck 6B (WR B if close)
  • after pull-ins 44K can prove useful since he can only interrupt with B+K, KK and 2A.

Secret grab against talim ?

I think it's A break.
