Can anybody make a video demonstrating Ivy's most effective and damaging combos? That would be great to learn from and how it's suppose to turn out when other Ivy players are training.

Here are some horrible ivy vids of me and swbeta. I was fooling around with her for a few days and decided to pick her up, doing decent I guess, though Beta's nightmare is stale and he doesn't know shit about ivy, so most of the time I just just trying to hit him with a SW 1A CH for a combo. : /

also Cupui, whats the combo you do in the first vid at about 30 seconds? edit: nvm guess you wern't the ivy :O

Some good tactics there Minerva. Good use of SW and CL but I found that you were using SW a bit too much - to the point where you were trying to close the gap with SW instead of switching to WP which would be better suited to that range.

This goes especially for your second match against Kilik. WP 1B, 6B, 11_77A, 22_88A etc. should really help you outrange Kilik players. Going up close is crazy imo.

Still, that's a moot point because most Ivy players use WP more so than SW so that shouldn't be too hard to work on.

Btw, can I add you to my PSN? Would like to have some Ivy vs Ivy matches sometime.

Here are 2 of my matches that got recorded at this past saturdays tourney. The 2 people that beat me were the ones that got recorded lol Where are the ones of me winning!! Any critique is appreciated. I had no vs Taki experience before this tourney. Had a little Cass experience but I actually did worse against Rigel I think.

I know now how to counter Taki's PO mixups much better than I did on this day. You can pretty much 4K her outta everything except step out of PO. Wish I would have known this day lol

Kazz, great matches recorded! I want to see ur other matches. :)

Cass matchup:
Use CL 1B,B+K to punish or just B, avoid having the second B blocked when punishing. I prefer using CL BB solely for interupting.

WP 66B whiffed even at pt blank when Cass guarded. o_O
Im not sure if she stepped side a bit, tho it looked like it whiffed atleast 2 times when ur in front. (That just shows how linear 66B is.)

Abuse Ivy's step more. One of the things Cass has loss from SC3 was her 4A that had range back then. Now she uses 6A+B, 236B and 22B+K to get close. *Abuse Ivy's step more when she tries to close in.* Try to be wary of her 1A range while ur doing that.

Taki matchup:
6:09, Taki did 2B CH and ur SW WS B interupted her WS K? Strange...

I dont have as much exp against Taki, tho some theory thoughts:
Her 3KK> Windroll mixup,counter with step. U'll be surprised u'll get out of her throw range. Even during her 3KK on hit.

When u punish her 4B with 2B, its only 0. Punish her 4B with 6 GC instead, as ur +4.

WP 66B on block -13. Taki should punish you easily With A or K. I doubt u even have frames to autoGi with WP. At the end its surprising to see SW 66A's range is that deceptively smaller.

Minerva:

Well played. Be aware some moves r unsafe. I.e: CL 3B on block then 2K, if NM were to do 33B, u'll know what I mean.
WP 66A+B should only be followed by A+B, A+K, bcos like from anywhere else it was done it can be rolled or teched. Tell ur fd to getup after WP [6A+B] unless he doesnt want to eat a WP 2B+K relaunch. After CH SW 66K, u can followup with CL 236BB. :)

Thanks Davo. I wish the others were recorded but only one station was recording matches. Oh well. Might try to get some casual matches up.

Cass :

1B, B+K is something I hardly use on Cass/Soph for some reason. Might be a mental block.

I love/hate WP 66B . . . failed me in that match though.

This is one of my faults. I NEED to step more. That's just something I have to change of how I play. I acknowledge it and notice I should do it more in general.

Taki :

I think I was off axis a bit when I got hit so Taki's WS K might have whiffed anyway.

This is what I should have done. Maybe I was just nervous.

Thats what I noticed now as well. Didnt think of that at the time though. Just wanted it to land!

Looking at it the vids, another thing to add. You did CL 22B when they rolled which is good time to use. I should learn to incorporate that. CL 22B on b: -2 and forces crouch. Do I smell frametraps? :p SW 6, SW WS B, CL A+B are tasty compliments.

Haha, "our dearest"? I feel so special.

My brothers got tournament footage of me a week or two ago. I'll pester them about uploading something for you guys. It's really not that impressive, though....

I love using it when people get grounded after certain moves ( ex. ending combos with CL 236BB ) Its good to use cause like you said, we get advantage. Ivy ends up crouching though so I usually like to use CL WS AA and it catches on counter.

When you guys refer to Ivy's "step" do you mean sidestep or backstep? I've had a lot of trouble using side and backsteps with any character in this game. It feels a lot slower than SC2, when stepping was a huge part of my game. In this game, i've started using 8way run to get out of the way instead. Again, it doesn't seem to work too well.
On the videos, Kazz, I wish i had gone to this tournament. It woudl have been worth the trip just to see you bust out those iCS moves. I would kill to be able to do that. Also, i've had a lot of luck with SW 6, 214K, 214k as a combo. That might be a good alternative followup when someone thinks you are going to get them with a CS after 6. How long did it take you to get your CS game where it is right now? Also, it's too bad you don't have a 360, I'd definitely like to play you some so I can learn.
