Namco-Bandai Announces Soulcalibur II HD Online!

  • Admin
So there has been a furor during these past few days after it was discovered that Namco-Bandai filed a trademark for "Soulcalibur Lost Swords". Until now, we didn't really know what it meant. Companies file trademarks all the time, often just to cover themselves.

Could Lost Swords be an upgrade to Soulcalibur V? An RPG side-story like Soulcalibur Legends? Or perhaps a free-to-play version of Soulcalibur like Tekken Revolution? Well Namco-Bandai just wrapped up their Comic-can panel... and... nothing. No announcement of Soulcalibur Lost Swords. However, Namco-Bandai has announced an HD version of Soulcalibur II will be coming to PSN and XBL this fall.

The HD release will be from the PS2 version, and include Heihachi and Necrid as guest characters. Link and Spawn will not be featured. Included with the resolution upgrade will be several new modes, including online multiplayer! Masaaki Hoshino is serving as producer for this project, rather than Hisaharu Tago who has been responsible for Soulcalibur V.
I don't need to even talk about how exciting this news is; but let me just say that when it does come out, the 24/7 stream will be moved over to it.

Here is something to keep in mind.

Hoshino's favourite character is Astaroth. I wouldn't be surprised if that giant golem gets a little extra developmental attention if Hoshino is behind the scenes in SC6.

I'm completely new school, I could not tell you a full movelist from any character earlier than SCIV, so is SC II one of the more simple or more difficult iterations of Ivy and if she is too simple, who is the highest execution character? Trying to work out who to main, lol

If I recall correctly, she's got a bunch of stances aside from her two sword forms; definitely above most of the cast in terms of execution. Maybe you should look at Taki. (?)

I don't know much about SCII though, other than Xianghua, Yohsimitsu, and Berserker were awesome.

Remember how SC1 for 360 came out some time before SCIV came out... What i think is that Namco is doing a good work if they are planning to release Lost Swords next year, they are bringing attention to SC, even if it's with nostalgia, good work IMO.

Now, SC2, that's when I became competitive, I mained Cervantes, Yoshimitsu was a dream at that moment, but now I know him inside out, and the SC2 Yoshi, is by far the best, he has all tools, gimmicks, damage, speed, and stupid things, I'm going to enojoy this, and no more JG or JI to the unblockables.

Yeah SC1 came out just before SC4 iirc, really wish that had online play, still my favourite one. Yeah agreed it's a good and easy way to get some hype (and money) going.

I'm shocked.

It's as if the Soul Calibur Gods heard my prayer and answered it.

THIS is what I've wanted for ages now.

Apparently, even PS themselves loved this game.

Just take my money, seriously.
