Political Correctness

I've seen a few things around recently and they've made me wonder what 8WR thinks of the "political correctness" movement that seems to be washing over the internet as of late. People being told to stop making jokes at the expense of minorities and women, to cut "abliest" language out of their lexicon, that they aren't allowed to criticise anything that feminism does, negative or otherwise. That kind of such and such.

I also think it would be prudent to discuss one of the roots of the issue online, tumblr, and why such echo chambers are as toxic as septicaemia.

Well I think feminism is a bad example. Since it's not really politically correctness imo, it's a gender disparity slaughter. We have all heard of feminist activist groups but what about a male equivalent? Non existent, we barely have a political or social voice anymore. They are beating us into a bloody pulp and we do nothing about it. They frequently use the argument that we can't understand them because we aren't in their shoes. This shit goes both ways. I haven't seen many women try to understand the struggles of being a man. But for some reason I need to learn their menstruating cycle? I need to know what horoscope they are? I need to understand how hard the make up struggle is? Fuck that shit. Join this facebook group my friend and we can stop the evil tyranny of women.

There is the Men's Rights Movement, but they tend to be bitter neckbeards (same type that rant about being blown off because they're nice guys) so it's hard to take them seriously.

Nice guy bullshit isn't a real mens movement. Like feminist want to rip our balls off and make us apologize. We need a real movement.

A feminist told me that there is no such thing a masculinist cuz it's 24/7 or some bullshit.

In the military, women have a lower standard in the Physical Training test than men. If you think about it, it should be equal to men because now women are holding men down from their inferior strength. It's not sexist, it's just true. There should be one standard for both men and women, but if it were the same standard, feminist would say the military is trying to fish out women, when in reality they're fishing out the weak.

The reason that it's unfair is because the pay is the same. If a soldier shows superior attributes on the field. Like carrying more supplies, walking and running further, and being able to scale walls. That soldier would be more valuable, therefore they should probably be paid more. It shouldn't be a male/female thing but a better soldier thing. This video pretty much nails it on the head, using a female firefighter as an example. I disagree that all women should get paid less, just the ones who fail the tests and still get admitted. Especially if this is pushing out male fire fighters who actually passed the physical test.

Exactly. My brother who is in the Special Forces complained that they allowed women in the Special Forces if they pass a test with a lower standard. They become a liability. It's not fair to the men that they are now more at risk at a mission because someone can't keep up with them.

If a women can pass a test with the same standards as men, then by all means let them in, but if they can't, then gtfo.

Jokes=/= Serious.
I will say this, for a long time, many things I've read around here made me think, "What is wrong with this people?" But one day it hit me, this people don't know who I am, and I don't know who they are.
The thing with this groups is that they think every joke was created to the sole purpose of offending them, I am not talking about some heavy joke that is not really a joke, but is truly offensive. I am talking about the light things that are made to poke fun.

But people nowadays are so defensive, so narcissistic and have such fragile ego that anything becomes an offense, hell we are a grown adults, most of us, criticizing=/=disliking the person and/or having something against the said person.

Now to be very honest, I do think there should be boundaries, because some people don't like to be joked about, and hell people might as well respect that. But this is when a joke is to target a single person.

People should let go, I mean, you can say "Fuck you, you cunt." and leave, you can either hate the person forever, and you are in your own right of doing so, but ignore the existence of the said person, or you can just think "Meh, in five hours this won't matter in the slightest to me." this too is cool. What you can't do is cling to the thing and suffer over it, people should get a grip.

I mean:
@Alex.J calls me a passive aggressive asshole, I call him an Self import troll.
Neither of us threatened to kill the other, or have extensive drama battles, we just move on with our lives.

Feminism has a rather humorous amount in common with the National Socialist German Workers' Party, if you look into it enough.

You need to explain to me this German Workers Party, since I'm not all too familiar with it.

I get this idea that Men don't need a voice because they're the ones in power, but I don't agree with it.

One of my main gripes is this argument over unfair wages and inheritance laws, things that have been tradition for centuries before Tumblr came along. Shit like that ain't gonna change in a few weeks because some people on a website decided to tweet it or whatever.

I'm all for equality, as long as it comes with the acceptance that the sexes do have differences and that those differences have an impact.

As for ableism and stuff, I try be sensitive to an extent, but at the end of the day a word only has as much power as you give it. If someone's offended, that's their deal. If it's nothing particularly major then grow a thicker skin.

I'm pretty sure this applies to any website with a like or upvote system. Or more importantly, any place with anonymity. Not even 8WR is safe from the political correctness crusade.

Regardless, I think JonTron said it best.

I am just concerned about why he didn't quote that post properly.

I personally dislike how this age is a one in which a multitude of people are offended by the simplest things. I believe that jokes at the expense of others are acceptable unless the butt of the joke is truly offended, and then it becomes harassment. In the case of radical minorities, i.e. feminazis, being the one to throw a fit and scream at the person who was just trying to be funny is harassment on their part. For example, the guy who made the Hugh Mungus joke was followed around by a woman who was screaming about how she was sexually harassed. Many people interpret this joke to be a reference to penis size, but he was actually referencing his portly nature. I've been going on too long, but the point is this: Don't go around causing a scene if you get offended. If you are offended, just privately tell the person that you don't appreciate being made fun of.
