I see... and lol yeah just throwing that out that there for the Lulz but her 66AA is unsafe idk what else she spaces with. I saw decapon doing some kick move which launches both of her legs in the air idk if thats safe or not.

I dont think that is safe, unless she ends it in the Guard break version where she rolls away. Unless you are not talking about the leg launcher. She doesnt really space with much other than 66AA. I mean she has a pretty nice range on BB and she as an advancing normal into a low which leads to her big combos, but other than that nothing to space with.

Good thread.

I don't want to go into detail with some match-ups here, I only want to say one thing I do not understand:

How does the victory of Decopon with Tira this EVO is any kind of proof that Leixia is good?
I don't like it at all how people come to the EVO thread and have to mention how bad she is all the time, but at the same time I don't like when people are saying "Scrub, EVO showed that any character can win" or "Leixia players are just used to playing their Top Tier Xianghua and can't adapt" or even "Now we know this game is balanced".

Seriously: How is the victory of a good character (and everyone who said otherwise is not very credible) a proof for Leixia being able to do the fucking same? This has nothing to do with salt, it's just very illogical. "OMG a good character won EVO, so a bad one can probably, too!" I don't get it.

But if I'd say that in the EVO thread, people would tear me apart.

I like how everyone acts like they knew all along that tira was good now. The general thought was that she was low tier before EVO. There are some like myself that thought she was still pretty decent, but almost no one in America would have called her a good character.

Leixa can definitely still compete. There was a really good Japanese leixa player that was holding his own against some very strong competition after the tournament.

you know Gloomy Tira is considered high tier. and Jolly is mid to low cause her AA BB game is excellent. it's not too surprising and i personally thing she is better than leixia in most areas.

Well, you listened to the wrong people then.
You're in denial if you think this wasn't the general consensus. About 90% of player's summed Tira up to be trash, except the Japanese. I remember members ridiculing the Japanese, for making it obvious they wanted Tira nerfs. I, personally, think she's the same tier as I've always thought. I just believe that player skill overides character's tier placement.

Even around europe ?

I thoguht it was strictly US, and US didnt' have many tira players to begin with.

good point, wasn't thinking about Europe. I should rephrase-
"You're in denial if you think that this wasn't the general consensus in America."

i'm watching the match and it turns out that the guy mostly and purposefully fights in gloomy stance. so technically he's fighting as a High Tier character since that's what Gloomy Tira is. so this thread means nothing in comparison to Leixia. not only because it's two different characters but because the different in tiers is very large as well. tira can do half bar damage off of one move with 25% meter and about half bar damage without meter. in order to do half bar damage with leixia through one combo you would need to use 75% meter which would consist of a BE and a CE.

It's not that his victory w Tira PROVES that Leixia is good, no that doesn't make any sense. What it does prove is that a non-top tier character given the right playstyle and skill can compete against the meta. Watching Decopon's matches closely he did A LOT of unsafe shit, made plenty of mistakes, played HELLA risky but he made great reads, was very good in his execution, sick with mind games, played Tira with more skill than I've seen anybody play her.

If you look at the pros and cons with Tira and Leixia there is NOT much difference at all... in fact where Leixia falls short Tira picks up and vise-versa.

You're logic is based on Leixia being a bad character when she's not... Like Urber1337 said the vast majority of the Community deemed Tira Low Tier, bad, terrible, not good character after the patch. In fact A LOT of Tira's players DROPPED her. Only those who continued to hone their skills and further understand her character, came to realize her true potential.

Why can't we as Leixia players do the same and tap into that unknown potential?

In SCIV Zas was low tier/BAD CHARACTER and yet Omega won a major with him. What does that tell us?

You're in denial if you think this wasn't the general consensus. About 90% of player's summed Tira up to be trash, except the Japanese. OMG I couldn't have fucking said it any straight forward/better myself... leave it to the guy who doesnt' hold his fucking tongue lol

then yeah it's 8K.

Ok. Is it safe?

Well, the general consensus on this forum maybe, but I'm 100% sure that neither docvizzo or Sacharja (or me) considered her bad before. But I can't really say how people thought about her here on 8WR cause I never read those kind of threads in her SA.

EDIT: I was referring to Xephs post.

This is true. Leixia needs meter for massive damage and Tira doesn't, but same applies for Viola yet Viola is top tier :/ (im NOT comparing viola to Leixia at all, but that damage with meter logic is flawed when you have a top tier character who also needs meter for massive dmg.)

In essence, it means nothing.

Well put. This is the problem i've always had with EVO Aftermath. With ANY game. People ride the hype train too long. Underused character wins, that means anyone who hasn't won with other underused characters is a scrub. (logic failure??) I play Tira as a secondary and I know she was decent. Not top tier, but still strong enough regardless. (look at her damage...) Can you imagine what would've been said if Raphael had won?

The game is not balanced atm, but it's nearly there. with a few more tweaks it could be.

ZeroEffect I agree but this thread is about motivation... you and people alike KNEW about Tira before Decopon's victory, but why? As I stated above, it's because you still played with her.

Now I think we can ALL agree on the FACT that after Tira's patch she was deemed.... SHITTED ON (period) n she's still not apart of the meta. She was played by a very skillful hand whom nearly lost to Mateo, had Mateo won the tides wouldn't have turned at all since he was using Rugi.

Point I'm trying to make to Team Lex is that she has the tools we just have to find the skill. "If Tira can do it so can we, no if Decapon can do it so can we!"

ah but Viola only needs to catch you with the smallest mistake and she can easily damage you for a while. that 3B tracks a little and tech crouches. i don't need to even get started on the benefits of 6B+K. Leixia doesn't have much that let her get away with much. like for example her 33BB. Even at point blank range it has no tracking. her 11AA and FC 1A+B are easy to see coming and the fake outs are obvious.

i still use tira and love her but i get thrown off mostly because of that Jolly stance. that is the mid to low tier fighting style.

P.S. Tira's Gloomy was buffed right? 666B was buffed i know that. it was jolly that suffered the most from the patches.

Those moves are kinda bad unless you're doing a combo or something... Leixia auto gets away with a lot because she's SAFE, that's one of her greatest attributes, her really only worse match up is Natsu because she can punish all of Leixia good moves. Leixia just takes a lot of skill to play which requires some risks and pressuring your opponent. She was made for mix ups, mind games, evasiveness, and quick pokes/ chip dmg. Lol she has all the tools she needs bro, she's not easy to win with.

@Uber Playing Tira for a few weeks I could tell she was good but since I don't go too tournaments I didn't bother saying anything. I won't argue against Jolly holding her back but it has it's strengths too.

Leixia's only downfall is damage but her mix up potential is ridiculous. I know a lot of Leixia players use 1B to set up mixups but there are other things you can use too.

I have become very fond of 6(A) after a launcher. I know it does less damage but I like to keep Leixia in motion right in my opponents face to force a mistake. If your opponent ACs over you there is BT B+K, Grabs, 2K for them to contend with. If they AC away from you then you have 44K, 44A which are both must blocks if they try to immediately stand up. Her whole crouch/while rising game because she is right next too her opponent by the time they land. Also FC3B is a must block after 6(A). I honestly think 6(A) after a launcher is her strongest guard burst setup because your opponent may AC near a wall or edge which results in fun times for Leixia.

3K after a launcher barely lets your opponent AC and it leaves you in standing position with access to most of her moves without the time required for RCCing. After that I like to use 6B+K or 6A+B for gauge pressure. Run up and grab or 663BB mixup. 3B if people want to roll out of it because it's a must block after 3K.

I honestly don't think Leixia is that bad. The only time matches become scary are on infinite stages. It's like I can feel the damage difference in my soul. I will recommend having a secondary character because if you can't find your rhythm it will probably end bad. It could just be me though....

i personally think her mixup game could be alot better than it is. like with her mother for example. leixia's best attribute is her tech duck game. 1A, 44A, and her rising from crouch moves. her low to mid/high mixup game is horrible because all her lows are bad except 2K and her crybaby attack. those are the only lows i do with her against a good opponent. especially if they know Leixia. i think she's pretty predictable most of the time even with those fake outs.

the only way to make them fall for things like 3B is by putting the fear of 2K into them.
