Sharing Information in the SC Community

I can share combos, glitches, stuff like that...but mixups and applications...not happening.

Not sharing mix ups? If a mix up can be trivially defeated by knowledge of how to counter the individual options in the situation, then it's a gimmick, not a mix up. A mix up is when both players can know all options (rock, paper, scissors), and despite that, a failed guess leads to some kind of disadvantage for one player (damage, knock down, ring out, etc).

I think completely open sharing is more or less always good, but you do have to be careful about over-loading people with knowledge they can't use or don't care about. Not really a problem on a forum, but I've got a friend who'll go into specific strings, combos, and other applications in person way too fast to actually incorporate anything.

Be suspicious of the man that wins tournaments all the time and never posts strats on the forum.

Suspicious. Like a conspiracy theory!

I found this topic, and I kind of want to revive it.

When sharing information, I do limit myself. I don't tell people if I had done a tech trap or not, unless they openly ask me. However, I do like to share some knowledge to players who share the same characters as me. I even do mirrors to swap tactics and pick out what I like (I expect them to do the same). On 8way, I really don't share much- aside from a few matches from my videos. Other than that, I agree with both sides. You should share some tacts/strats because (like someone has said) it creates counters for the tacts, which makes you you make counters. However, keeping some things secret is good too, you don't want people to figure out everything you've found yourself (especially if people aren't doing it or don't know how to counter, and is powerful).

Well I pretty much share a whole lot of my finds and strats. If my wins only derive from my opponent's ignorance I wouldn't be able to say if I'm a decent player or not. And if suddendly someone appears who can deal with your shit you are in big trouble...

Only playing against people who fall into the the same tech- and frametraps all the time and stepping to the wrong side won't make your game better.

I dont have much to share but what i do know i tell ppl without hesitation. the way i see it the only thing i can do on this site is get better at my strategies and gameplay in general. ive learned a lot from every1 here who posts. in regard to that i say thanks to every1 here that tries to help the community. This site has helped my game greatly. i still suck lol but i am nowhere near as bad as i used to be. ive learned to think(which was my biggest problem lol) simple basics go a long way. So for me and the other ppl that still have so much to learn i say don't hold back info from those of us that are really trying to learn and become better players thus better challenges.

I figure if I share with a good player then they'll share with me and we'll break even with each other but we'll be slightly better against the world.
If I share with a lesser player who has nothing to share then it doesn't hurt me. There is no use depriving someone who isn't as good as yourself.

**Note: I fall into the lesser player category, tell me everything pls.
