Soul Calibur II: European Edition

Since there is already a similiar thread for SC:III it had to be done.

So, what are the gameplay differences between the US and European version?

It did not have to be done, actually.

Start a thread when you have information, or you know information exists. Not because you assume it exists.

The differences in the European edition of SC2 are negligible.

Wasn't the SCIII thread startet without any information too?

I think it's good to have a thread for this, even if the changes aren't that big compared to SCIII.
As far as I know there seems to be no documentation for, so I think it's good if we collect all information we have into one thread.

That's interesting.

Jaxel, can you elaborate? I never played the NTSC-US version of SC2. What are the differences between US Ivy and PAL Ivy?

No. It was not. The thread for the European version of SC3 was started as a way to contain the crazy ravings of one poster: an American who has convinced himself that SC3E is seriously the best version of Soul Calibur ever made. He was popping into all kinds of SC3 and SC4 threads all over the board, and it had to stop, so I collected a dozen links to posts where he'd given his crazy impressions, and gave tongue in cheek summaries of each point.

You, on the other hand, are just assuming that SC2 has regional differences, and you're basing this on nothing. Do you assume that all games are modified before they get released in Europe? Generally speaking, you'd be right, but the differences are so mundane that nobody should be interested in catalogueing them. Things like menu languages and NTSC vs PAL video format.

Ivy's 4A+B:B in the European version was broke. It had a guard crush built into the move; in the American version, the guard crush worked fine, the last hit was a guard crush. In the European version, the guard crush activated on the second to last hit, making it a GUARANTEED RING OUT on block.

Well atleast we already found something :-)

Of course you're the boss here after all, if you think this thread is unnessecary it can be deleted of course.
Just wanted to breathe some life in here.
Sorry, if I did anything wrong.

So, before I open a new thread, are there any notable changes in the European version von SCI (Except the codpiece thing)?
