Taki Combos?

Hi, Im new to these forums and to Soul Calibur. I am trying to just take one character and learn with just that character for now. I was messing around with the characters and Taki really caught my eye. I started using her and well right now i fail, im not sure if it is because i play the game with just running in there and just keep attacking with out blocking a lot. So i was wondering if there are any newbie level combos i should learn, and tips.
Im looking forward to getting into Soul Calibur and making it the fighting game i go to however i really suck right now.

Sorry this Soul Arena is quite dead because everybody is playing Soul Calibur V.

Thanks. I almost gave up on the post. Since the post i have been working with Taki and have gotten better but still need work. I have been wondering if it would be a good idea to place other actions on the left and right triggers for the xbox.
