The Arcade Stick and Convertor Thread & List

sanwa flash requires 5v to operate correctly and iirc the ds3 only puts out 3ish. it may work, but imo not wort it condidering battery life. much better off going wired with optical. i've been working on a flash replacement running off 3v but it's going to be a while before i get the time to finish it up.

Tried to ask Byrdo if he had any flashes left, but it's impossible to get a hold of that guy. Hope he's doing alright.

Anyway, sent you an email Godspu. I also scored a Pelican adapter this past weekend at my local mall gamestop for $2.99. I walked in, just to see if they had any extra SF4 sticks, and there it was with all the used controllers and what not. I already got one of those in-pin adapters from Laugh on SRK, but I couldn't pass up a Pelican adapter for $3.

The day before that, I scored the Jason Kidd 96' Zoom Flights for $40 at Ross. I was gonna buy them online for $110 plus shipping. I was supposed to hit up a casino yesterday to see if I was on a lucky streak, but didn't get a chance.......

if you can even find one, you're gonna pay out the ass for it. i really should get my shit together and work on the damned things already.

Thread is gold, hope this never gets deleted. I need to get my first stick and I'll be using this thread to research shit. After reading the responses here I need more money and to know what I want before I can even consider getting a stick. Dont have the option to mess this up.

Anyone have anymore good links to more info about stick, converters, etc? I'll look on my own too but the more informed I am the less chance I make a stupid choice of stick and blow the money I've been saving forever.

Nemesis, slagcoin was mentioned as the second post in my "Tips on building a custom arcade stick" thread (i think it got moved to tech discussion under "non-SC" chat.

It's pretty much the best guide for building your own custom, all different aspects and parts and everything.

Also, no offense, but if you don't have the time/money to mess some things up the first time, you're going to be disappointed in your first stick. There's a good bit of experimenting, and you're going to have some bumps in the road always. Have you done a lot of wood working before? If not, you're going to discover how much of a bitch it is sometimes to get things exactly right. You'll waste a lot of time doing pointless work, it probably won't look the way you want it to...it's not smooth sailing.

If you're looking for a GOOD stick, not a custom (not arguing quality here), money and a LITTLE BIT of work will probably get you everything you need, and you can probably do it first try.

No offense taken, yeah I realize after reading this thread and other peoples experience that its probably gonna be tough for me. Especially since I don't know anything about wood working. I guess what I have to ask myself is whether I want a stick now or wait until I have all the resources I need to obtain a better stick in the future.

Also thanks for mentioning the thread in the tech section, I never go there. Ever. Should be a good read.

Can I ask here what's the best layout for SCIV? three attack button on the upper row, block on one of the lower row buttons? How is it in arcades usually?
