VeganFlapjacks Various Creations (recreations and legacy costumes)

Here's some stuff I've made, hopefully you enjoy it. Criticism and advice welcome, however I do have a preference for keeping designs simple, so I'm unlikely to use a lot of patterns/stickers/etc, as I think it makes it look messy.

What a great collection of retro throwbacks--I hope there's more to come!
Thanks! There's plenty more to come... though I'm not sure how long it'll take to finish them.
I've pretty much uploaded my best creations, so the stuff I'm working on now (Tekken 4 Yoshi, Soul Cal 2 Yoshi, Tekken 7 Yoshi) are the creations that have been giving me the biggest grief.

Haha see Fargus and Abe took me by surprise, definitely characters i did'nt seen from a while :D

I think at the moment TK3 Yoshi is your best one, but i believe with a bit of refinement SC1 Yoshi can steal his crown

I allow myself to give you a little advice only because you asked for it:
Give a chance to patterns and stickers.
You said a big truth on the risk of fall into the messy side, but you ever have the control to keep a texture "soft" over a surface if is what you prefer.
I see you got good eye for colors too, wich help greatly at that

Pandemonium! is my childhood game, I've made Fargus from the sequel as well, but it's currently... lacking.
I'm going to give SC1 Yoshi another go, but can I ask what you personally think it's lacking? I'm actually not super familiar with SC1 so it's hard to find reference pictures.

Anyway, here's the second batch, not quite as polished as the first batch of characters, but I started by posting my best characters.

Ugh, I'm not happy with his arm, but the more detail I put into his arm the less I can put into his face, so it's trying to find a decent compromise

NES HEROES
I feel like ever since SC2, it's been a tradition for people to recreate Link, I wanted to do something a little different than the traditional OOT look though.

Not 100% accurate, but I wanted to go for something inspired by both the artwork and the original pixel art (White Gloves!)

I'd been trying to recreate this character perfectly for ages, and it looked lame and lackluster, so instead I opted for quality before accuracy, hopefully I still captured the Ash vibes...

Pictures don't really do this one justice, I've used clipping objects on his chest to give the illusion of a flashing electrical core (like Necrid)

A bit of a boring one, but it's actually just a palette swap of the NES Jason, which I made first

That Tekken 2 Devil brought back my historical trauma just by looking at it! Some great creations in here, but that one in particular stands out to me. Haven't seen anyone think to do that yet, and it is pretty darn spot on. Nice one! : )

Normally I'd agree with you that patterns/stickers are essential for giving almost any design a sense of polish and completeness. In this instance, however, I think the simple colours and contours are a big part of the charm and part of how the designs replicate the original low-res surfaces and shapes of the alluded-to originals.

No problem, here the pic
If you want give a try i think you can work on the green cloth areas to go closer to the render pic, other possible improvement i think may be reconsider the waist piece choice, sadly SC6 does'nt offer many options at that (specially japanese style ones) but i think Redemption (siegfreid's piece) or white knight pieces can offer closer result[/spoiler]
