Viola General Discussion / Q&A

She's good, but not THAT good. Not close to the best IMO. In any case aPat would be banned, but it isnt the case either.

Actually, there is no case to ban Alpha whatsoever. Viola on the other hand could be banned on the same grounds as SCIV Algol for having an infinite.
For the moment, she is perfectly legal in all tournaments worldwide and I doubt that will change ever. Also, don't just bitch about Alpha without some good rationale, it looks really tacky.

The American south should love SC5 with it's inessential innuendo.

Is there a video to said infinite? Or could I just find the notation somewhere? Found it.

I noticed in the combo list you opt to do 66B, 2B+K BE instead of 2A+B, 2B+K BE. Any particular reason? I'm not at my console now and haven't much of a chance to play lately.

Example: I use 6AB, B+K BE, 6[A+B]2B+K BE, AAB, 2A+B, B+K BE, AAB, 66B, 66A+B. Instead I should do 6AB, B+K BE, 6[A+B]2B+K BE, 66B, 2B+K BE, AAB, 66B, 66A+B?

Hi there I have a question regarding Viola's 3B AAB 66B 66A+BB when i practice on the dummies it seems that if the ukemi to the left they can escape it every time. Is this a combo problem or is it that im just not doing it fast enough? If its a speed problem any tips on how to get faster?

So - Dunno if anyone's been using this so I figured I'd post it, simply because it's interesting:

A+G -> 4K -> BT 2B+K BE.

If they block it on wakeup, they get pulled toward you and you get some frame advantage (Can use that to simply grab them again). If they eat it OTG, you get to BT B+K them.

I often wonder what the purpose of 4K was intended to be. It forces a really drastic side step so I can only assume it was meant to move the opponent closer to wherever the orb may be but who knows. it's a weird move?

Maybe I'm giving namco too much credit assuming that every move was designed with a distinct purpose.

In battle, I've been using Viola's Unblockable attack w/ Orb and was hoping to receive some advice if possible. I've been using this short combo:

4B - 44A+B

4B stuns them long enough for her Unblockable to get a much higher chance to hit the opponent, dealing massive damage, although they could always roll to the side (with the risk of getting hit at least once with her orb, though).

Does anybody else have any recommendations/thoughts for fitting her Unblockable w/ orb into an attack? Whether it be through a combo or a stun?

With 4B you can do the can do this combo:
4B 2B+K BE 6B+K B (orb hits) AAB 66B 66A+B and for extra damage you can start the combo with 6b+K 2A 4B instead of just 4B

Does anybody have any recommendations or thoughts upon this combination? It's nothing spectacular, but I've found it to be fun to use every now and then.

3B - AAB - 6AB - BK - 66K (BE)

I sometimes have trouble with BK after 6AB, because it sends the opponent moving sideways. Do you think it could be more accurate if I practise on my timing?

It's super gimmicky, so it's only likely to work once - if at all - on anyone who knows what they're doing, but :3::B:, :A::A::B:, slight delay, :6::6::K: BE (full hold) combos (albeit for a tiny amount of damage) until Viola starts charging her orb. On block, the fully charged orb will give you a free :3::B: or :4::4::A: BE combo.

Im pretty new to viola and i still can't even understand the numbers that mean what direction.
thanks
The number directions are pretty simple to understand. These are the direction's on the PS3/360 controller

789 :7::8::9:
456 :4::5::6:
123 :1::2::3:

*5 (:5:) is neutral; It is when you are doing nothing, or just standing still

The direction's come first when you want to say a move. For example. Viola's 44A BE. To perform the move, you would tap 4 ( :4: ) twice and then the A button. BE stands for Brave Edge so you would press A+B+K afterwards, or R2.

Yes. It is called 'Viola Top Ten Moves' and is on the first page of this soul arena. How on Earth did you miss it?

Hi, new to the forums and playing as more than casually in fighting games, and I have decided to up my game as wel las use viola for my main. I had some questions and I figured this would be the best place for them, if this is in the wrong place I greatly apologize. Anyway here we go....

1) What is the best way to start learning Voila, would it be getting the top 10 moves down perfectly then going into combos then learning when to use them or would it be better to start learning the combos move by move and then when to use them?

2) From watching vids of Viola matches it seems she is a heavily offensive rushdown (as close as it gets in SC at least) type of character, is this character?

3) What is her best move(s) for punishing

4) What is the best move to set the orb, do most people just use one way to set it, is it best to just use b+k to set before a combo or is it better to use a combo to set it then another combo to use it, and I mean generally as I know there isn't an answer as is only one is best for all situations

Thanks in advance for any answers!
