Youtube etc. no sound

Actually i'm not trolling.
My buddy has no sound on youtube and other video platforms.
His media player gives sound, so we can listen to cds and stuff.
We tried reinstalling and updating flash player, firefox and some other stuff.
We also checked sound settings and flash player settings, all to no avail.

Any clues now???
And Dushbadge before you tell me i have to turn up the volume in youtube, we have tried the obvious too.
 
What do you use? Mac, Windows or other? I know that on Windows you can access the "Volume Mixer" which enables you to turn up and down the volume of different programs running such as Media Player, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc. You may have turned down the volume for your web browser.
 
it's windows.
In the volume mixer menu all is on max.
Probably his sound card is busted, he was able to get sound on youtube by assigning the speakers really weird in the realtek sound output menu. And it seems to be constatly changing what works and what not.
He's gonna get a new sound card i think.
