Kayane Needs Your Help to Get to Tougeki SBO (Japan)

A BIG THANKS to everybody who donated. I stop the donation now, I have received money enough ! Those who wanted to donate later, i'm fine now, just the fact that you wanted to help makes me happy.
Your support really touches me. I feel that even if there are a lot of anger and hate around me, there are still good and caring persons who also love fighting games, and this is very important for me to continue living in this world.

I am very grateful and I will train hard to win SBO.

Did I want Kayane, a French player to win an American SBO qualifier? No. Is there something not classy about this? Not at all. This isn't a hippie bonfire, this is a competitive fighting game where one side loses and one side wins. People have the right to choose sides, nothing wrong with this. If she's such a pro player she should have a tough skin. Hell, I walk into tourneys knowing no one wants me to win. It shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings.

Yo, real talk! As an American, It's just an unsettling feeling that someone from France will be representing the U.S. Obviously we were all rooting for America, just as much as France was rooting for Kayane, or the Japanese rooting for Tira player. No hard feelings, it just kinda sucks. Apparently, America is just bad at SC5.

I think some of the comments in this thread are just friendly jabs at how bad America got murked.

I don't mean to knock anyones hustle, but 2nd place MLG? $3,600 right? Just wondering, that's all.

2nd place MLG : 3600$, then after Tax ? Probably around 2700$, just as Keev winning 6000$ = around 4600$ in fact.
A trip from France to US for MLG? : at least 1200-1300$
I've travelled twice for MLG, which cost me around 2600$. I definitely can't live thanks to cash price, even if it seems quite cool, don't forget Keev and me have to pay expensive trip, whereas all MLG participants are from US.

The money I earn thanks to MLG is simply used to go in more SCV International tournaments, having this FRANCE/USA rivalry because this makes hype in tournament, and this kind of rivalry is definitely needed to make the tournament interesting and keep the game alive.

Aww man I was going to donate when I got my paycheck this week D: but I'm happy you are set marie go win this one as a American Representative and as a French player :D

It's cool, it's cool. Like I said, not trying to knock the hustle. Good luck.

Kayane winning doesn't make the US bad Mamba... just the WC. ;P

(I kid. Go get'em Marie!)

Seriously, though, I wish we had an SBO qual in more locations around the country. I'm very aware how difficult it is to arrange, though. We had one here in Mass a few years ago.

I'm sure French SBO Quals would accept American players, were they to travel to compete. It's only right we honor her win.

I think there would be more interest in the US if there was more prize money involved. As it stands now I might as well invest my time in other more profitable 'sports.'

That kind of thinking is what is holding the esport community down. It takes time, money & SUPPORT from the community to bring this whole thing to new levels.

If some of yall just step back and look at the bigger picture, you will see that supporting Kayane, Keev, the shens, the japanese etc....further broadens what we are trying to accomplish. Its not about US vs France, its about getting these damn gamers the "star-dom" they deserve and show the world that competative esports can be fun and can be entertaining to watch.

Those that down threads like this with negative attitudes only deepens the hole that we are in. But yet they are also the first ones to step up and bitch when SCV is out of EVO, or when SFAE isnt at DEV. But yall wanna sit behind your computer screens and flame the ones that are out there tryin to do work? yall got some fucked up priorities. Get off yalls asses and get to a tourney. Win or lose it dont matter, the bigger the support from the community, the more prize money you will get. Till then.....Your just spouting off the wrong way.

I wasn't trying to be negative. Just as an example - I can take $60 and go to a casino and win $5000 and get paid the same day for winning a daily poker tournament. It takes about 6-8 hours to win that tournament, and is probably more difficult.

From what I've read, it sounds like the payment mechanism for some of these tournaments is more in line with sweepstakes winnings, where it takes months to get paid. That doesn't seem very legitimate to me in comparison to other sports.

It sounds like an organizational, marketing and business management issue. If you want to be taken seriously, why not create a Player's Association? Have a group of representatives discuss the challenges that gamers face, with Sponsors/Advertisers and the game developers.

Or has this been done already?

Just want to note that, for all the naysayers, it's people money. While you say all of this, just realize that many who could have been put in the same situation as Kayane would not have received so much support so quickly (and I doubt there would have been as many, if any, vanguards of righteousness).

Still, everyone should rejoice in the fact that, not even a day later, Kayane received the funds she needed.

Kayane - You had better kick ass.

You too, ShenYu!

I know there used to be an organazation that did that. the NVGCA or something like that. Im not sure of whats going on with them. But this is a fantastic idea. The players need some kind of representation to make sure they are given what they earned. This might not be the time or thread for this. But a fantastic idea.
