[Arizona] AZ and friends!

I'll try to make the next SCV tournament or whatever..heard about this stuff from Wolf...my main is usually "HattoriHanzo" .. (yoshimitsu.) Been trying to learn him the last few months. I recreated my PSN acct and starting over. I'm also a notoriously bad loser, I'll try not to throw temper tantrums if I show up. Live in NW valley...peoria area. Oh and I'm probably old enuff to be ur father.

Welcome sir. You live by quite a few of us, so be sure to keep tabs on this thread for upcoming events. Not sure about your age, but we're certainly not children. Some of our people are in their 30s, but all are welcome.

I also main Yoshimitsu (but I don't like him in SC5). You can see me playing him in the loser's finals of the video Haz just posted.

Special shout out to Dr. Dogg / Munchi for helping making this happen, thanks alot

While I appreciate the shout out, it was pretty much all Munchi. I didn't do much other than try to organize carpools.

Good to see you found the thread, and welcome! If I ever get a day off I can make it to some casuals. My job has got me working 13 days on and just one day off :(. I do have this weekend off though, maybe we can organize something for then. So how do we call you?? Hattori? Hanzo? Dragon? Joe?? lol, what do you prefer??

Oh, and GGs to everyone that played, watching the replay made me realize how crappy I was playing!! :( Definitely have to try to get some more practice in. Big thanks to Munchi for helping get everything together. Wish I could thank everyone involved but I'm still learning everyone's names! :)

So I just tried to buy Spring Championship Soul Calibur V Competitor Passes online, and it turns out you cannot buy them online if you live in AZ.

Dipstick pointed that out. My guess is that it has to do with gambling laws since AZ has stupid gambling laws. Still, I will raise hell if I get to Anaheim and they're sold out.

Cool...feel free to friend me.. Dezert-Dragon is my psn id. It took me awhile to learn substantial damage with Yoshi...I think we fight differently, you do some pretty cool stuff with him. I need to get better defensively with Yoshi that's for sure.

Maxi's damage is a bit ridiculous and I can't seem to figure out Viola at all...I need to use MCF I'm not even sure how to do it...that straight fist that stuns on counterhit?

That sux dude...I'd be up for some casuals before doin a tournament. I have weekends, and Wednesday off...usually too tired to do anything after work on the weekdays tho. Dragon I guess?

I don't know why I didn't see this before, but Dual Shock 3 controllers are banned from Evo (and I'm guessing several other big tournaments). Good thing I finally got used to them! Man, this is such a pain.

But for those of you AZ players who use the Dual Shock 3 controllers, what do you plan to do for Evo? (controller-wise)

That's ghetto why are they banned?

I don't know what i'm going to do yet. I might revert back to playing stick. Only reason why I went to pad was cuz my movement was better but since the patch it doesn't matter much now

Because people can turn on their controller that was previously connected to a certain PS3 and interrupt a match by hitting the home button. It's a shame they didn't think about this when designing the controller.

Is the original ps3 controller banned? its not a dualshock 3. dualshock 3 came out later in the life of the ps3, the original one is much lighter and has no vibrations, but does suffer from the sync problem, its just the sixaxis controller.

that seems pretty stupid, to have SC5 on ps3, yet ban ps3 controllers. if they set up a system to be a de-syncing station (as we have done at DEVASTATION since like 2009) there is really no issue.

Why does dev have to be the pioneers for everything lol, first to stream, first to use headsets and apparantly the first to use a de-sync station to solve that issue.

To do iMCF, you have to slide your finger(s) from A to B while pressing down. You literally cannot do it without sliding as fast as possible. I've tried attempting it with one finger on each button, it simply doesn't work. Once you get it, I don't think it's that difficult. It's just getting it down the first time that's hard.

It's been that way at Evo for a couple of years now. I use a PS2 > PS3 converter. This allows me to use a Dual Shock 2 instead of a Dual Shock 3. While the controllers feel slightly different, they're close enough that it doesn't take much time to get comfortable.

I recommend practicing with the converter for 2 weeks to a month before Evo so you're comfortable. And if you're going this route, I'd also recommend finding a new Dual Shock 2 now, since they can be hard to find at the last minute.

Since I play on stick, you can borrow my converter if need be. It's always best to have your own though.

Oiy evo is becoming more of a hassle. Need to get a stick (don't care to use the converters and don't feel like getting a pad that i'm only going to use for evo), venue fee, and entry fee. Not to mention the tournament in June. This just doesn't work to well on a military pay. I'm just going to wish you guys good luck and rep well. Don't any of ya lose to sieg ;)

If you're going to miss a tournament, you should miss MLG, not Evo. Dual Shock 2 pads only run $10-15 these days. If you really don't want to spend that, buy it from Best Buy within 30 days of Evo, then return it right after for a full refund.

They mention the sixaxis controller... Also banned....

What converter do you use? I was thinking about getting the iNPiN since a lot of people say it's lag free. But $20 plus shipping for a converter is kind of expensive. If yours is cheaper maybe I could try it out and get my own if I like it?
