Soulcalibur Lost Swords Beta Test Announced...

Namco-Bandai recently announced an upcoming domestic beta test for Soulcalibur Lost Swords; which is scheduled to be released sometime by the end of the year. In case you forgot, Lost Swords is a single-player only fighting game; so chances are you may not be interested in this little title. However, the game will be free on PSN when it launches soon.

The beta test will be available between November 14 to 18. In the beta test, players will be able to test out a small portion of "Quest Mode" with Sophitia, Siegfried and Mitsurugi. In addition, players will have access to character creation and the shop. In order to try out the beta, you will simply need to download the 4gb trial when it becomes available on the Playstation Network. More information after the break [...]

Lost Swords brings back some old features from the Soulcalibur series, as well as introduces a few new ones. LS re-introduces the armor break system from SC4 where you could destroy pieces of your opponent's clothes; although this time you must do a "Soul Break" move under certain conditions. Destroying your opponent's armor will drop treasure items. It also brings back a slightly altered version of SC4's Tower of Lost Souls Tag system.

Alright, glad to know I wasn't the only one. Also, it seems the CaS characters have parts from SCV's 1P and 2P costumes. I just fought a Devil Jin Cas who had Viola's 2P heels on.

There's a lot of character slots at the customization screen. I wonder who else they'll add.

Edit: lol I just did a 228 damage combo with Sophitia.

 

sophitia's moves are on auto pilot. pressing a 4 times which is the equivalent of aa then 1aa chains together for a 4 hit combo. also if you do 2 b b the followup is automatic.

 

I am disturbed that after Tekken Revolution, there is no practice mode here.

According to Namco, Soulcalibur fans just wanna dress up their characters and enjoy the atmosphere. What good is a practice mode to them?

If that's the case then I'm glad its singleplayer only. They took the one part I hated most about SCIV and left the design up to a crack dealer. I'm glad they expanded cas, but why the fucking stats again? 228 damage seriously? I can't deal with that online.

If you guys are expecting CAS like SC5, well you'll be in for a disappointment because it's for entirely different purpose here, at least in this beta (meant more for power ups/support and not simply dress them up like barbie dolls =p) And you're forgetting there is no "online" in the sense your thinking.

By the way, anyone figure out the meters?

Once the bar at the bottom gets filled (says MAX) press A+B and you'll get a super. I don't know how to do the second one though.

The bar under your health is the time limit for your partner. If you press A+B+K (R2) you'll switch out for a limited time.

P.S. the Sophie combo was AAB A+B 236B (Messed up the 236236B)

If I know my lowly peasant class casuals, they'll love this. Tekken Revolution is poppin for NBGI right now (even though it's pretty much just a stress ball if you have a semblance of a brain) so I mean... Easy execution, flashy effects... I hope this works out well for them so they can fund SCVI.
