Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Am I the only one who remembers some recent interview where the guy said the roster would be very similar to SC2..? Where did I hear that, because I can remember it pretty clear as day, it stuck in my mind. If so, then the guy basically lied. Sc2 added, what, four characters? And two of them returned..?

Did Markman lie? He said that the current build is not indicative of the final roster. If this is the final build, it fits the PlayStation Experience character slots.

If those small white slots are for DLC characters, then he was correct in not saying it wasn't representative, considering the last select screen we saw only had two of those slots.

My guess is that he was being conservative and hedging his bets as to not get people's hopes up and make them angry when it turned out DLC represented more of the final roster than we thought. "Not representative" could mean "more dlc and less base slots" just as easily as it could mean "more base slots" which seems to have been how you interpreted it. He probably meant it in a bad way, not a good way.

Markman is the perfect PR man. Be vague on potentially negative news.

Still, I'd rather Azwel was next to Taki if that is the final roster. The asymmetry is really annoying.

But Sophitia never gets axes and I doubt Mi-Na will fight a bunch of dudes with Xianghua's girly movements.

I remember watching the streams when he said it. It was definitely implied in the good way and Aris seemed to take it in the good way.

I suppose we could be seeing the next guest character fill that middle spot above Geralt, Inferno top left and the other two DLC on the left and right outer spots....

I know Inferno isnt good but if they go with the Souledge/Soulcalibur alt (Elysium?), then it is technically neutral i suppose which may be what Azwell is supposed to be.

There was an achievement unlock. Hard for me to believe they'd implement working achievements in a demo build. Nothing definite, just another sign in my mind that it's the final build.
And the fact that it went gold already I believe right.

Perhaps Saito's Gatotsu from Rurouni Kenshin?
Thought the same thing.

This is what I think/hope will happen with the final roster:

The additional small circles probably won't be there at launch, but could be added through updates as more DLC is released. From there, they could add even more if a Season 2 happens, building up two additional columns.
Maybe, but... I think would be like this:

More symmetrical, don't you think?

With this latest batch of reveals in mind, all of the blurred names from the story select screen can more or less be fit to font. I had to edit together a "w" for Azwel, but otherwise all 20 are there, minus Tira, which makes sense now that it's confirmed she shall be DLC.

With this, I concur with those inferring the empty slots to be for DLC or boss-related unlocks like Inferno.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever believe that Seong Mi-na goes between Cervantes and Astaroth, until I actually see it in-game. It's silly and nonsensical. Lizardman belongs there, and Hwang and Seong Mi-na would have added new lines that aren't present here. Tira's line isn't present here, either unless hers is actually what you're calling Voldo, Voldo could be where Raphael is, and Raphael could also have a line added. The screenshot with these lines came out so long ago, it could be very different now versus then.
