Raphael Video Discussion

Do any of you guys have footage of Tougeki 2012? I heard a Raphael player named Demon got fifth place there. Could have interesting stuff.

Actually the tournament that Demon got fifth at was the US qualifier for Tougeki -SBO- at Super Arcade. The real deal starts on 8/4/12, but the only one that gets to participate from that qualifier is Kayane, who took the top spot with Viola.

Not to discredit him in any way, but getting 5th at Tougeki is a much bigger deal than getting 5th at a local qualifier.

You stepped it right before the active frames kicked in, I guess. You don't want to look down on a fencer's steps.

Similar yet pretty diffrent to prep K. Prep K's tracking is super easy to step up close (leading me to think the hurtbox up close is neglible) while at tip range it's pretty difficult to step.

What do you know about stepping horizontals?
Ooh, ooh, actually, I know one!
Some Xiba horizontals can be stepped clockwise, too. When you're like... inside him. Not even any good though because beating the 22A B followup I still can't do. Maybe I have to QS then 8wr?

I would be replaying your vid so many times if the ad wasn't longer than the video content.

DAT 6K.

Nice gameplay! I have one question though: is there any reason as to why you choose 3A for your 22B followup?

Thanks guys. 3A is what comes to me first. I've been told to do 2A which does seem much better.

I use both 6K and 3A. 6K can be stepped more easily while 3A doesnt have as much range. If youre talking about 22B followups, 2A is awesome since frame advantage mixups.

I used to like 3A after 22B but it just doesn't work reliably on some characters for whatever reason. So I switched over to 2A.

There's only like 10-15 people who actually try to play this game in my area. I don't think anyone expected a Raph or a Hilde to get into finals. Ah, the stuff I managed to get away with due to matchup inexperience.
