Soul Calibur and the Olympians

Very nice and elegant white queen EdenianPrincess, i like the headdress and the subtle golden patterns on the clothing. The face, hairstyle and discreet makeup and jewelry add to the cohesion of the design...keep it up !

Also Gatsu's Poseidon is a nice addition to his god collection, i especially like the moustache that looks like a tidal wave and the touches of blue here and there in the golden set...

it is too tedious for me to carry on double posting here and in my thread (still sick you know, i can't shake this virus) so i'll just put a teaser here and if you wanna see my full god roster go to my thread.

As a general comment, i don't think it helps the thread further to just post new stuff without commenting at least a little bit on the others...but that is just me, i guess, so don't bother...of course, the fact that stuff is posted in several threads might explain that as well :)

Great work from everybody in this fascinating challenge! I'm especially fond of Hades.

Helmet is composed of Roman ornament, beetle horns, and feathers of strength. In retrospect, the helm looks kinda evil, but watevs. She's my favorite goddess!

Launching into full critique mode takes a herculean effort on my part, but I can at least provide a few notes.

Gatsu: Gatsu will always be Gatsu. All top-notch designs, especially Hades. Your weakest is probably Aphrodite. She's beautiful, and I love the tiara, but I'm not completely sold on the fur shoulder pads.

HolyCarp: A well-executed monster. Scale pattern complements the creepy face and fishy helmet. He's a bit scarier than I imagined him to be, but I do enjoy the design.

Vilarcane: I really enjoyed the design aspects on your Athena. You really nailed that war/wisdom dichotomy in her outfit by juxtaposing the flowing white robes with heavy battle armor. I created my version of Athena with a similar idea in mind. Mine turned out more down-to-earth, since I took more from her Renaissance-era depictions (in which she actually got down and dirty in battle) rather than from her classical, Greek origins (mostly statues striking epic poses). Poseidon has too many colors for my taste, but he'd look perfect if you toned him down a bit.

Gauntlet: Poseidon's equipment flows throughout the design like water, and the little seahorse is pretty damn sweet too. Hermes is excellent. You could still do more to play up the wing motif. Maybe some goddess wing brooches on the shoes would work.

Edenian Princess: Hera is simple and elegant. I really like the crown you made for her. Demeter is also pretty, but I don't see how the harvest part fits in. Maybe you could throw in some leaves or branches?

Thanks for the review brucege.
I'll have explanations about Poseidon in my thread later and i am really glad you nailed the exact intent behind the choice of elements and color. Couldn't have put it in better words myself and i'll prolly snip your prose to start a design discussion at my own place lol

I'd have to disagree on one thing though, gatsu's weakest is Hercules, Aphrodite is radiant and strikes me as an original recreation for the sake of the color scheme.

I am done here...

Oh and your helmet design on athena, i see what you were trying to do, and it look amazing from the side (not so sure upfront)
And the CAS as a whole gets the job done with authentic colors. Google image athena and you'll see what i mean :)

Second that brucege, a lot of subtlety in the design, and refinement in sticker/pattern work to make the armor look the part.
Like the three main colors used as well.

Of course, the belt would be better without the "leather part", but there is no way around it xcept coloring it to a neutral brown like you did...maybe there was a better choice of hip eq though...not completely sold on the neck add-on either, i would've made it tinier to hide the "holes" that remind too much of the original item.

To trick out your version brucege, i'd say maybe work on adding some details on the edges of the robe using either stickers or pattern then hide part of it with simple shape stickers, or some kind of composition of stickers in the middle)...
Look at what i did for Zeus for reference, that could be an idea...
but honestly, she looks simple yet great as it is...no need to overload the design, but try it out if you think she needs some spicing up...

didn't i say i was done here...baaaaaaah

@Gatsu : le vostre immagini CAS parlano di suo, ma perché non usare la tastiera per parlare con noi, sei dita fanno male :P ?

@Bruce: Well, without touching the CaS as it is i suggest fuckton of stickers (possibly ones with effect on like the Golden eagle or the griffon emblem) with some used giant placed with guide.
To add stuff you have the waist slot still free, maybe see if there is something you like.
The arms protection you chosen are fine, but if you want add flashy detail there are definitely waaaay more flashy options, specially ones that are in two parts and arrive on the biceps, not only forearm.
Not to push on copy mine (but if you want use it go for it), but dat valkyria arm protecions give free a ridicolous boost in details with decorations, chains, faces, swan motif etc lol
If i was you even trying to add stuff i will keep her shouders naked as are now, is one of the strongest points of her line.
Last thing i can think is that if you feel the need of a 3d gadget, you may try to search if some head item (colored metal-gold with special stickers) can replace the beetle horns (i doubt, but why not try).

Overall what i can say is that whatever you do, try to keep your original concept/line because is a cool one.
The alternate heavy armored parts with simple "empty" ones give a nice rythm to the figure.... basically this cas is already well made, if you want improve go for it but be careful to not lose what make it beautiful

@Vil: sometime i speak sometime i just post the pics,as usual. Ask for it never worked, i speak when i have something to say :D

I love how Ares is all brawn and meat and how Demeter's all nimble and sinewy. Perfectly in character. You and our up-and-coming artist Gauntlet make me wanna try out warrior CaS for a change.

Edit: Oh wut?!? Is that a codpiece on Ares?

Lol yeah, have a blade even there is Ares style i suppose :D
Joke aside while originally made as unexpected visive thing (and basically i needed golden parts balancement) is even reasonable on concept level, since he's the god of every war-related kind of violence, rape/pillaging too

Athena was the goddess of the war too (not only just Justice), i copy-paste
The metalwork of weapons also fell under her patronage. She led battles as the disciplined, strategic side of war, in contrast to her brother Ares, the patron of violence, bloodlust and slaughter—"the raw force of war"

As fun and initially unintentional is end up giving him bananablade is kinda fitting
