Namco Reveals Nightmare, Raphael and Leixia!

Okay, so technically, we all knew these characters were coming... Nightmare was leaked by Daishi several months ago on his Twitter, Leixia was soft-announced at this year's EVO, and Raphael was pseudo-revealed through some clever detective work dealing with the resumés of musicians.

I myself got a chance to play these characters and more at the closed-door press conference earlier in the week and I will give some short impressions about them, and the game in general tomorrow. There are many more announcements coming during the next few weeks, so keep paying attention!

The whole raphael on the top row confuses me greatly. I was 99% certain the top row was reserved for the important new cast members. Then again, who's more important that raphael :)

The character design seems to be shaping up to be the best designs we've had IMO. I am really liking Raphael and Leixia design. Looking forward to watching them in action. :D

 

I'm digging Raphael. His design sort of combines his SC2 look with his SC4 outfit, and the end result looks more like a traveling swordsman and less like a "An Interview With A Vampire: the Anime" character.

Nightmare looks fantastic, although I'm not too fond of his helmet. There's definitely someone in there; according to the bio, Nightmare IS male and he's taller than he used to be.

Leixia looks about how I expected her to, and I'm fine with that. Interestingly enough her father isn't Kilik (again, according to the bio).

The stages look AMAZING. Beautiful, full of activity, realistic settings, varied shapes...basically everything I could have asked for.

By the way, this throws off everyone's character select layouts with Raphael being on the top row.

 

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, Rapha looks fucking sexy...

Nightmare is nice, can't see Sophie being inside that mass of armor though (and I was looking forward to it) But even so it's a good variation of his SC2 costume. Best Nightmare in a long time.

L looks exactly like an alt costume of X, nothing new.

Raph looks terrible, the hat doesn't suit him and the costume is... bad. He looks like a minstrel or something and not like the image one would have of a vampirized french fencer.

 

Amy Would? Is that Amy's last name or another Amy or a typo?

Also lols on the first community fanfic rumor going down. Sophiemare out, Viola/Amy next!

Not really, he is 32 cause the same as Tira and others, he is infected by SE... he doesnt age

 

Hmm, I really hope Leixia proves to be A LOT diff. to her mother, would mistake her for an alt. costume if I didn't know any better. Nightmare looking fierce as usual.

 

The stages look amazing! The owl especially.

And Leixia looks a lot older than i expected. wasn't her sketch art kinda chibi? Her sword is different, too (looking good).
Also, for the love of god and all that is holy: Why can't Namco model sleeves? Her dress looks perfect in the 2D artwork but fails really hard in the 3D screens. It looks like she's wearing hard plastic tubes as sleeves. where are they attached anyway?

Raph's look alright, though i could live without his hat.

 

What did you expect? That she should be bulky enough to replace Rock instead? :P

Nah, just that she'd be more ready for a fight and less nervously waiting in line for a little miss pageant contest.

I am gonna miss X so I need her replacement to at least be a bit mean! Xianghua used to say things like "Just Kidding" but what she meant was "I'M GNA BUSS YOU UP"
