So you want to learn Taki? (Instructional Videos for the Taki Enthusiast)

[10] Knight
Well I was gonna wait until I finished all the chapters before posting this, but since my time has been cut very limited I wouldn't be able to finish the whole series for another 2~3 weeks so I'm posting some of it now.

Well anyways, I was getting alot of questions about how to use Taki, what are some of her main moves, set-ups, and could I train them. Well I don't take apprentices so I thought it would be convient to just make tutorial videos to explain important and very crucial aspects of Taki, and what to expect if you use her. It's composed of a prologue, 5 chapters, and an epilogue, well here you guys go:

Prologue: Knowing the Language(Not recommended for people who are seasoned with the SC lingo) -

Chapter 1: Learning the List -

Chapter 2: The Normal and Counter Hit Combos
Chapter 3: The Art of Possession
-

Chapter 4: Ninja Cannon - Processing...

Chapter 5: In process -

Epilogue: In process -

I posted this in the online forums due to the fact that alot of peeps online where asking me for advice. And since I know they don't check Taki boards, here ya go!

I've been working on this project for about 2 months on and off, but couldn't finish it as fast as I hoped due to too many things going on in my life right now. I promise to finish this and will post it asap, along with a downloadable version of the whole thing.

Two things to say:

First the praise: Excellent work. Good reference and if these are your first shot at these; an excellent first attempt.

Second the downside: Vids like this are 2 years too late for this game, but if your passionate about it; don't let that stop you.

As a side note I'd love to crush...er.. play your Taki at FSAK. I am something of a specialist in anti-taki strats. Plus it would be something nice to contribute to a character study.

I'm so thinking about teaming up with you, shogun. Just like you, I've been recently been asked, "hey teach me Yoshi" after fighting certain people or sometimes friend requested by people I never met. But, I'm not too great at teaching(hence I directing them to 8wayrun.com>Soul Arena Yoshimitsu). So I might even put a short tutorial of how to play as Pocky Yoshi(Yes, I had pocky recently and I feel good lol). Of course, I'm probably gonna need your help at explaining. Bring a mic, a notepad, your e-ego, and "fun" game. It's Boombies Taki, Pocky Yoshi, and whoever else at the picnic or however it goes lol. It's all I can do for now(in a crisis with some personal matters of mine).

fucking fabulous videos, shogun when SC5 comes out you should release one of these, top notch

Yea you right, but why stop now after I finished so much. And sure, we can go some rounds since your anti-taki :D. I'd love to see where my Taki would stand in that case.

Namu, no doubt, I can help you with trying to make an explanation video of the pocky yoshi. I've been really busy as of lately, and I will try to find you asap.

Thanks bubbles for the support. I try to go in depth with alot of moves and reasons why. It's harder to make a guide that will fit all styles, but I believe any Taki player can learn from this. And if you starting off with Taki, it preps you for higher level of game play.

This should be moved to the Taki SA or to the video section. Just tell them online peeps to stop being lazy and check the right section.

I'm sure that these vids are hot. Can't wait to check them out when I get home.

You showed a teaser for one of those before, right? Either way, yeah, good stuff, and I really hope you decide to stick with the community for SC5.

Yea I made a teaser of some things to expect in the vid. If SC5 comes out I will be back no doubt, but after this year I might pick up Tekken as my main focus of gaming.

And Malice yea that's true, but I already posted this in the Taki SA.

I'm working on Chapter 4 right now, so try to bear with me, when it's done I'll release chapter 2~3.

Nice videos dude. I would like to make a guide on how to play certain characters..but they are all played pretty much the same as everyone else other than a couple traps...

Also..the only character I have been asked to teach is Voldo...and I don't even play him seriously..:/

Yo Shogun what kind of software do you use to make these videos? I've always wanted to make a 'how to destroy Maxi' video but I'm not really tech savvy.

same here with talim
its hard to teach somebody something online cus they cant really get the full impact of the characters dynamics...

It may sound difficult, but it's easy as hell I promise you.

1. I plug my DVD recorder and PS3 through my VCR and run it through my tv with one of those cable wire thingies and start recording.

2. After I record them I just copy them to my cpu.

3. I then convert them from .VOB, to .WMV or .MPEG using a DVD Converter, there's alot of them out there, some you gotta buy, and some you can download (I use Aiseesoft)

4. Put them into Windows Movie Maker and start editing!

There's hella ways to get it onto your cpu, and hella software that can read it in multiple ways, this is just the way I found to be the cheapest way since I don't have a digital recorder to load them right into my cpu.

So you're just going to deny the existence of the most comprehensive character guide on this site, AzukinChaCha's pages of Taki analysis in the Taki SA? Taki does not need more basic character analysis.

No real comment on your post, Signia, but I do find it funny that this was posted not too long ago:

The community is cyclical anyway. It'll always ebb and flow. I run into new players constantly, I point them to this site so that they can learn new stuff. If you look at the long term picture, bringing in players now, two years ago, or a month from now all helps build the game's potential player base, and that will help new players pick up any future installments as well. There's no down side to bring new players up to speed even if the competitive scene happens to be slow right now.

Weirdly, the main message in the forums seems to be: "Game's dead. Put that controller down. Stop making videos, or putting out info on how to play the game for beginners. This info's only useful when a new game's released."

Well, that's great for you folks who apparently exist only to post such messages now, but the world don't revolve around 'ya. It is in fact still possible to expand the game's skill base and even lay the framework for a new group of players to develop who will then join in with SC5 as well.

Lol, thanks for posting that comment Providence. I think it's stuff like that which drives alot of people away from SC, cause when something good comes along, there's always someone trying to bash it. Frankly it's people like that that I'm tired of dealing with, jumping to conclusions before even asking anything. It almost got me on the verge of leaving too.

But I'll play into your hands for a sec and correct your post signia cause you don't know the difference.

The difference about my vids and what your talking about is for one it's visual. I could tell you a story of what I mean but I'll just cut to the morale of the story.

Some people learn by reading, some people learn by seeing, and some just have to wiz on the electric fence.

Another thing that's different about the tutorial vids is that I'll have things in the video that are never mentioned. One will be the fact is the explanation of why PO A doesn't SS on CH hit normally than when it's in stun combo. There's other things too that I've seen in that guide that haven't been mentioned that will be mentioned in a video.

Reguardless it's there to help people who have no experience with Taki gain knowledge in the form of videos, something that hasn't been done yet.

So instead of trying to bash first ask questions later, throw your two cents about your questions/concerns first.

i don't wanna be a downer.. but since when did 22~88 = 22_88 ? are my notations not up to date?

One thing I noticed about the first vids, you might want to play around with some text colors other than white. It melts into the background a little too much. Yellow usually holds up better.
