SOUCALIBUR V The Official Guide By Future Press

  • Moderator
The Official Guide to SOULCALIBUR V, which is published by Future Press is now available for purchase. Already, I have seen people with the guide, and I went and purchased the guide myself yesterday, and it is amazing.

Future Press wanted to share the news of their guide with us before it was posted onto their Facebook page with a PDF excerpt of the chapter for Mitsurugi. To make up for it, they have sent directly to me a combo video for Mitsurugi along with additional details that they wanted to share with the community.

From Senior Editor Wil Murray:

To celebrate the release of the official Soulcalibur V guide, we (the guide’s authors) have released a combo vid for Mitsurugi, which is the first of many vids that will accompany the guide. The vid features a couple of combos that were discovered just after the guide went to print, and we’ll be trying to update the guide’s contents in this way as much as possible. We’ve tried to ensure that everything in the guide is as accurate as it could be according to the first patch, and have checked everything as well as possible in the time we had.

Of course we’re all happy for the data in the guide to be made available online on sites like 8WayRun.com, and all of the guide’s authors will be among the many players that continue to add new findings and updated data here in the months to come. We are very proud of the work we’ve done on the guide, and had a lot of fun making it (even though it nearly killed a few of us). We really hope the guide’s contents help players improve and enjoy the game, and look forward to any feedback you may have. Enjoy the vid!

I did see that guide book at the store just yesterday. I didn't have enough to purchase it right then and there. I was just a bit surprised looking just how thick that book is.

these guys definitely deserve a big thank you from the community. ive been trying to post the frame data for everyone , but ive always have said to support the guide and given them a link to amazon to purchase it. hopefully people will since the guide does alot more than simple frame data

Don't worry, you're credited in the actual guide, along with lots of contributors and at least two versions of Duncan...

Well I actually didn't expect to get credited, I don't think anyone used the data I done, thanks. And Ash told me about the two versions of Duncan, made me laugh... But I won't spoil it.

I bought this yesterday. Well, rather, I had my friend that owed me about 30 bucks buy it for me.

It's gorgeous. They really took their time looking at every aspect of the game, and their commentary was so familiar it was like reading something the actual SC community wrote (and from what I see, it does seem like some people on here did work on it, or at least contributed to it).

This is without a doubt the best guide ever published for soul calibur. I'm in the middle of transcribing the Natsu movelist and frame data for her SA, and I was just going to ask if I was allowed, and it seems I am.

The authors sound like some real stand-up guys and I'll be sure to give credit and a link.

I have the guide. It is pretty amazing. About the size of a large school textbook. So make sure to study up!

Hi!!

Thanks all for supporting this work!

Thanks a lots at all the authors and persons who nearly get sick trying to finish it at time, thanks for your efforts to make this project true! This a 480pages book with a lot's of precious data for competitors. It will also show to newcomers or public what kinda of Soul Calibur we play at high level!

I hope there will be other project like this, and if I have to do it again, we will have more time!!!

while i certainly appreciate the information, i knew quite a bit about mitsu back in sc4 and i have to say i am surprised they have so much positive to say about him.

2kb doesnt knock down and the brave edge version takes half a bar to knock down for meh damage. also losing relic actually hurts a lot, especially since now there is almost nothing that you can do in mist against a low blocking opponenet. in short i dont think mitsu is much of a character anymore, although to be fair it is pretty early in the game cycle.

it just struck me as odd that they would have nice things to say about poor mitsu.

I can't find it anywhere either. I intended to buy it with SCV on Tuesday, but Bestbuy didn't have it, and neither did Target, two gamestops (It wasn't even in their systems, at all, despite being on their site) three Walmarts, and a Books-A-Million. Amazon doesn't even have a firm date on it.
