Did anyone say Tekken is realistic? oO Only the human characters were realistic.

That's been the main basis of the argument; that Chloe herself was an unrealistic character, because she was a stereotype of an idol, which doesn't make a lot of sense.

Of course not,there never was,Tekken 1 had kuma from the start,the only realistic fighter i can think of is Virtua fighter,but theres Dural in it so semi-realistic.
But thats the point of video games they aren't meant to be completely realistic,otherwise they'd be boring,we already live in the real world don't we?Why would you pay to live in it again in video games?

But I haven't seen fighting animals,monsters or devils/angels in most other fighters so yeah its original,this new character has bits taken from several sources and pieced together,even though "chloe's white knights" deny this,its true.

And those who are saying that i can't compare chloe to taokaka at all,as in there is nothing at all that they have in common in any form,are saying what can mean that i can't compare sophitia to patroklos,see how ridiculous it sounds?

I said human cast. I said it 4 times. Human.
She is too kawaii and all that. If you look at the human characters up to Tekken Tag 1 at least, you'll see that 90% of the human cast (Baek, Ganryu, Paul, Hwoarang, Lei, Law, Bruce etc etc), were participants that were supposed to enter the "King Of Iron Fist Tournament", the tournament that only the best fighters in the world participated in. The only human character that participated in the tournaments that doesn't seem like a "King of the Iron Fist" is probably Xiaoyu/Miharu.

What I mean is, these chars, whether fantasy was involved ( Devil Gene) or not (the entire rest of the human roster), were considered "serious", up to a point at least (Tekken 4). By Tekken 5 and after that, the character approach has been changed, so I'm not surprised with the recent results, whether they're good or bad.

Chloe is not too fantasy, is just one more proof Namco (in both Tk and SC) lost the ability to keep a coherent, inspired, solid and recognizable general art style/character design

Chloe, Catalina(hot bewbs i can't hate), Claudio(i like it) are just the continuation from Lars, Alysa, Lily and whatever

And even whatching classic ones, you can see how they martial outfits are ever more often changed in favor of fashion wannabe street clothes

The martial art design core has been lost long ago in favor of shit appearently is currently popular (in japan?)

Blame the specific character is kinda pointless, being the straight producut of the current (and close past) trend of the game

And as much i miss when FG developers had more balls, i don't know how much i can blame them, since any attempt of quality and coherence instead blowjob mass is usually welcomed by shitstorm on the internet

Is sad see once more free artists bend the knee to ignorant kids without any knowledge of chara design.

If you're talking about personality from 5 seconds of "Hiiiii"s and "Byeee"s then maybe you think that a characters personality can be defined from two words,but i don't think so.No indication of personality has been shown from her trailer.And the only similarity between this character and Marie rose is the hairstlye and childishly cute intro/outro poses.The only defining parts of this character that we can speak about is her moves,which look like Lili's flips and Capo's spin kicks.

And with the customize mode anyone can be made to look "not like a fighter"

this discussion is about character design. The flaws in your knowledge, or lack there of on the topic, and really how your opinion means absolutely nothing. As a designer, both professionally and academically I find this need to educate you. So I'm glad you finally met someone with conviction.

Only way you would actually truly know this is if you sat down with the character designer and interviewed them on what they used as their inspiration for the character.

Oh, it's logical to compare these moves to each other.. except instead of windmills, she looks like she's doing nutcrackers. So they're not the same are they? as for the axe kicks, they may not look the same, but Chloe's moves don't look exactly like the character you say she's copying from either. This is what it all boils down to.

You're scared that she, someone who doesn't look like they would fit in the realm of tekken took the spot of some other character that you have grown to accept. You have no clue about the complete roster. And you're scared.

and there you have it. That's the real reason.

also, FYI Teachers don't get paid very well. College adjunct professors especially, don't get paid very well. At some institutions I'm sure they get paid decent. But it is nowhere near a high paying job. I make more money freelancing than I do teaching. And I teach mainly because I enjoy teaching. and when I'm freelancing, it's only for a limited time.

when was the last time you saw a teacher driving around a high class luxury car that costs around 80k? I've been going to several schools both as a student and a teacher, I never saw a teacher/professor driving in something that costs over 50k.

also, FYI Teachers don't get paid very well. College adjunct professors especially, don't get paid very well. At some institutions I'm sure they get paid decent. But it is nowhere near a high paying job. I make more money freelancing than I do teaching. And I teach mainly because I enjoy teaching. and when I'm freelancing, it's only for a limited time.

when was the last time you saw a teacher driving around a high class luxury car that costs around 80k? I've been going to several schools both as a student and a teacher, I never saw a teacher/professor driving in something that costs over 50k.

Umm,University teachers get paid enought to rival doctors,maybe not where you live but here where i live,they sure do,most teachers teach here because they were beat to other better jobs,hence have nothing else to do,most don't even want to teach.

That's the thing. Making a comparison between costumes and then saying it was ripped, or even inspired is a very ludicrous thing to say. Especially when the only thing that they have in common is that they're cat ears, a jacket of sorts and a tail. I'd harly call that inspiration for Lucky Chloe. That's like making the declaration that all breakdancers were inspired from Eddy Gordo.

Moves don't give an idea of personality,only their stories and intro/outro poses.If you think that it does,then explain this personality,i can only think of "cheerful"which is extremely common and one-dimensional.

Again, the characters I showed you in that big hero 6 video HAD NO TALKING. Only actions. Yet you were able to read their personalities clearly based on their actions. If you pay attention to the way Lucky Chloe carries herself, in her actions as well as words, you can read into her personality.

She's is a cheerful character, but also has a flare for dramatics, and the makings of a TV personality. She's upbeat and playful, and can dance. Thus she has rhythm. She is the makings of a pop idol. very much like that Miku character. Again, she will be the spokesgirl for Tekken. When the game is introduced to folks in and around the world, expect a cosplay of Lucky Chloe to accompany Harada. BECAUSE HER CHARACTER IMMEDIATELY LENDS ITSELF TO THIS ROLE.

As for it being common and one-dimensional, this is a fighting game. Most characters tend to be one-dimensional, and haven't grown in I don't know, ever? They all match up with archtypes but guess what? IF YOU'RE TRYING TO BE A POP IDOL, How would you expect them to act? moody? melancholic? or excited, cheerful and happy?

this discussion is about the character in general,i am disappointed with the design,but i can change it to my liking via the customization mode,what i can't change is the movelist,that is only in the developer's power,and imo,this is a wasted opportunity,my opinion means as much as i will be paying for the game,which is going to be a lot as tjis is a next-gen game.

And, if you're buying the game because of one character than you really are stupid. But the opportunity that Lucky Chloe presents goes beyond gameplay because again, She is a pop idol. She is a tv personality. She can advertise the game. much like this:

University teachers who are full time and have an expansive background in education get paid well that they can live a comfortable life. It also depends on the university they're teaching at because said university requires a certain caliber of instructor. Not to mention, cost of living. Most schools, and most places of education, the teachers aren't paid much.

But I also like that you're trying to tell me that teachers don't want to teach and are just in it because they couldn't land a better job. But they still get paid well. Ha. Teachers teach because they love education. I teach because it's amazes me when a student comes in and knows nothing of the program they're working on and in ten weeks they can produce studio quality work. The fact that I had a hand in their learning process is an extreme honor. Don't take that kinda shit lightly.

If the ideas behind your posts had weight, say an interview where they expressly said your claims and not your own "oh this is what I think happened", I'd take you more seriously.

You see, I also take issue with this because I have friends who work their asses off coming up with the characters for you to shit on and you make it seem like Harada went to the art director and said I want a character that looks like this and hands them 3 drawings and then he tells them to make a combination of them all.

That's no where near what happens in the art room, and no where near what happens when the character designer is asked to come up with a design.

It all starts with this question:
What is my character's job/function?

and it grows into there with the rest of her persona, which includes visual designs.
