Soul Calibur 6 CAS Suggestions Video

Cool but I have to ask, what do you mean about "cooler art style". Do you mean like how the graphics/overall theme looked in SC3 before they entered the next gen.

Because personally, even though I can admit that SCIV & V have beautiful graphics, I did like the more simpler style used in the earlier games, namely 2 & 3 when the characters didn't look as heavily anime as they do now.

SC1-2-3 are artistically superior to 4 and 5

SC1 was straight awesome, SC3 got some low shits here and there but overall great quality and the highest points of the series under the artistic pov

SC4 was liquid shit in the eyes, and SCV was better (than 4) but still nothing like the first games.

At this point i've no hope, because 3 main factors

1-artistic quality don't sell since peoples got trash taste more often than not, and there are ways to sell using design that have nothing to do with quality

2-namco probably don't even realize the fall SC design had, and even if was the case i doubt they understand what SC design need to be "fixed" (good example is SCV: one step right, one step wrong)

3- Even assuming somebody realize #2 he will no give fucks because #1


To be fair, is not a thing of SC only, since his big brother Tekken is passing through the same (almost identical) identity crisis
But to be honest TK even at his best artistically was never worth of lick the balls of SC in his prime (SC1/3)
They lost the direction but while very good (example better than DoA and VF) it was'nt something exceptional, while SC was the peak of 3D FG chara design... and maybe not only 3D

I see where you are coming from and I have to agree. As far as fighting game visuals went, Soul Calibur 1-3 were simply some, if not, the best I personally ever saw in the era. By the time the third game came around, I was blown away by the visuals. The backgrounds were beautiful, characters had that fantasy yet not too anime look. It was like something that I've never seen before.

However, I do think Tekken 4 looked pretty nice too. A lot different than any of the other Tekken games but I personally liked the art direction in that game and the visuals were not too shabby. Tekken 5 looked okay but I don't know, something about Tekken 4's art style made me love it so much.

I will say that Dead or Alive always had beautiful level designs (at least starting from DOA2). Yeah, I can't take the game seriously but I have to admit that they make some of the most strikingly beautiful levels I've ever seen in a fighting game. The latest game, Dead or Alive 5 looks very beautiful. I like how they finally made the characters not look like anime Barbie dolls. I still can't take any of them seriously but I'm just giving credit where credit is due.

Back to Soul Calibur, at this point, after the mucked up story, I really only play it for character creation and online battles. I'm not going to be buying Soul Calibur 6 (if they make one) on day one. I learned my lesson after doing that with 5 and I'm going to need to wait and see what the game has first/

I honestly don't like these creation modes at all and I feel they take away from actually playing the game, but that's me tho.
 
It's funny to see ppl like brucege liked Kai_lombax's first post on character creation when they also liked CFW's post.

The OP is targeting towards in-depth character creation based on looks and you've got ppl like brucege who liked his post for that. Now I come along posting another MMO to add to his repertoire of hardcore in-depth character creation yet the same ppl/guy who liked the OP's first post also liked a post made by CFW who doesn't really like those kinds of character creations.

But on a more serious note, the PS4 supports 1080p and the Xbox One supports 720p; based on those resolutions ppl can only notice certain amount of detail on the characters.

This is why I say looks are secondary, more importantly since we're talking a fighting game here I believe customized move sets should take top priority. Let there be skill trees that branch off in different directions as you follow your own route, level up and discover powerful move sets for you to choose and tailor your style of play.

This is hands-down, the best character creator I've seen in my life. But I'm not sure if the Soul Series needs something this deep and complex. However, if Project Soul has enough resources to implement something like this, then I'm all for it.
I know right? This has to be one of the best ones I've ever witnessed as well. But I do agree that Soul Calibur wouldn't need to go this far. I'm just more in favor of face options/sliders and hair length control. I would just like to make it so my characters don't feel like they are the same you know?

No options for costume design. SCV's system of patterns, stickers, and SpecEq is simply unparalleled. Notice how no other game has forums dedicated solely to creation. Admittedly, I'm too much in love with SCV CaS to judge fairly Kappa
Mmm I don't know, APB Reloaded comes close to SCV's sticker system. :)

 
First of all: Customisation/creation must not affect character stats and gameplay(balance is first priority).
A) We should be able to create non-human characters (at least lizards and skeletons)
B) All items from SC3, 4, 5, BrokenDestiny and LostSwords and all normal characters' items+ something new.(of course at least 1/3 or even 1/2 of this will be DLC, i have no illusions about this)

C) There should be only two sizes available: recommended and mimic size. (balance purposes)

D) Take all the faces from SC3-5 and divide them on parts giving us the opportunity to choose the eyes, nose, cheekbones and lips separately

E) Facial hair as a separate option (moustache and beard are selected separately)

F) Ability to select mood on our character’s face

G) More voices moods, but their lines should be selected apart of their temper (more lines also). Also some silent option and some nonhuman incomprehensible noises (eg: inferno, lizard).

H) We should be able to select separately front hair(can be divided into left/right), back hair and whiskers(can be divided into left/right)

I) Hairstyles should be adjustable: hair length(greatly for most of the hairstyles, slightly for some of them, and very few could not have adjustment for lenght) and for some of them position (eg: ponytail into sidetail or lowtail or anything else, same for twintails, braid, etc) ie flip them as you want

J) Also ability to use two hairstyles at same time eg: bobcut+ponytail, longhair+twintails, twinbuns+frenchbraid etc. Of course you still can use anything on its own.

K) Length of back hairstyles(1 and 2), front hair and whiskers are adjusted separately

L) Solve clipping problem

M)Fix the floaty issues and compatibility problems (there should be a little % of incompatible things)

N) armor customisation consists of: head, ears, hair accessories(hairpins and such), additional hair accessories (for tails, braids and such), mask(upper), mask(lower), mask(full), underwear(up), underwear(down), underwear(full)(including body hair, full scarred body etc), mid torso, upper torso, arms(two layers for that: armor and tissue gloves), shoulder, neckwear, waist, lower leg, upper leg, shin, socks, foot, special equipment(slot 1, 2, 3).

O) Ability to “unpair”: use different arm equipment for left and right arm (or pair something that is supposed to be on one arm(eg: gladiator’s manic)), same for shoulders and some special equipment. Also for paired special equipment make actual horizontal slider and separation slider.

P) Give us ability to make one arm and/or leg mechanical(like Yoshi’s right arm in creation mode) or demonically deformed (like Nightmare’s arm)

Q) Also add some belts to special equipment category.

R) Give to us ability to see our character in after-armor-break state

S) Give to us ability to select 3 (in addition to unbreakable-by-default) things unbreakable (cannot be special equipment) or make everything breakable (except underwear and socks that are unbreakable by default)

Also pair weapons should be customized separately (eg: Serv’s swords, Aeon’s axes, sword and shield of Pyrrha, Pat, Sophitia), shield( if represented style have one) also should customizable as much as swords. Z.W.E.I.’s sword also should be customizable and E.I.N. too (just give some equipment to select for this spirit-wolf). And also add some sort of aura option for weapons (not necessary).

U) Also only Soulcalibur and Souledge must be selectable only as full weapons (but still there can be added aura to them) and can’t be recolored (but you still can change weapon’s trial).

I like the idea of choosing which armor to break. Good call. I would have included that in my video but I didn't think people cared that much about it so I left it out.
 
Back on SC3 the CAS were great. It wasn't as deep as SCV, but it was the best for me in so many ways. Combine the good things of this two games and tada! You have the perfect CAS.
 
I'd really love to see the captains' & Shinigamis' robes from bleach added.

Here's a list of things CAS in SCVI needs:

- Fantastical options
Let us change human ears to elf years? Or have mutated arms like Oprah? Or maybe a robotic arm like Yoshimitsu? Hell, why not let us create our own lizardmen and golems? Give us the voice options for our character to be completely silent, or give hisses/roars. Let us set our eyes to glow like Nightmare.

- Facial hair editor
SCV tied facial hair to the face options, well no longer! SCVI should have a separate facial hair editor, complete with mustaches, beards, and goatees of every type. No more using tails or other objects to improvise a mustache!

- In-depth face editor
Speaking of which, having to chose between a pre-set number of faces with no other options has to go. Every game with customization nowadays has an in-depth face editor, time for SC to join the club.

- More creation slots
With the power of next-gen, our creations shouldn't be limited to just 50 slots. I would like at least 300, so our creativity can flow.

- More equipment
One of the things that bugs me the most is that LS has a ton of equipment that SCV doesn't have (even if a lot of them are barely-there slut costumes). Make sure to have more equipment in SCVI so we aren't limited without DLC like in SCV. Also, have everyone's costume be available has equipment without DLC, though it should be made an unlockable. Also, more anachronistic clothing too.

- Bring back the currency system
The currency system would add more replay value to the game, instead of grinding over and over to increase your level.
