Most Esteemed One-Shot Contest Thread.

Hey, I actually have one of these! It's a rust-armored zombie knight. Not the best quality pics, but you get the idea. Hopefully this gets the ball rolling.

Well I gave it a go. The idea behind this is that he was a great lord known for his magnificent golden armour... And this is what he looks like several years into his reign, as time takes its toll and the gold begins to fade.

Tbh, the majority of texturing work went on his face. I don't know why he has a gold face, it just looked cool, ok?

There's something about that helmet that is just fucking perfect for this challenge. I think it's the "teeth" of the dragon that kinda look like they've been melted away. Also, excellent theme pick; it works surprisingly well with the dark knight belt piece, which I thought would never look good on anything.

Keep it up guys!

PS: Is that the cow texture? Because that's what I used for mine too, but I set both colors to look like a single thing so the effect looks different.

The textured floral pattern with default black and white colors. On the "modern" tab, I don't remember the number.

The trick with this one was finding equipment where I could size the pattern large enough to not look like stripes (like it does on the turtle shell shield).

Also helped to have pieces where changing the angle gives you the mirroring effect so you can arrange it to drape across the ridges of the equipment, to give it a more organic look.
 
Not entering the contest, just a bit of nostalgia in spoiler tabs below (click on tab and then on pic)...if you want more of the same kind, my thread features her soulmate right now :P

Oh and i vote for @Pigeon King's, because i love that helmet design and proudly ignore rules or deadlines like a true frenchman should do :)

Thanks, good contest, with a lot of good entries. I'd like to do a contest that seems like it would appeal to a lot of the posters lately, to see if we can maximize the entries. Been playing Folklore lately, so here's my idea:

Create a mythical/legendary creature.

Anything really; dragon, minotaur, chimera, witch, faery, troll, sasquatch, the Great Pumpkin, whatever. Original, recreation, doesn't matter.

A lot of room for creativity here, let's see what we get. Not terribly dissimilar from a few previous contests, but those were so long ago, and we have enough relative newcomers I think we'll get some interesting results.

I have an entire menagerie of mythical creature customs on my save of SCV. But I'm guessing I need to enter something I've made for the competition.
 
@CloverGnG: Nah, you’re fine. People post old stuff if they’re stuck but still wanna drum up support for the thread. That said, I’ve only seen one (heavily modified) repost win a contest over two years of SCV. Loss of shock value or something.

@Quinion: These usually last three weeks (including both submission and voting) so let me know if you’re okay with these dates—

Submission deadline: Saturday, September 6

Vote deadline: Tuesday: September 9

I'm still chuckling about the fact the last time I won this contest was back on Page 1 of this thread, bitching about how no one participated in contests anymore. Props to Le_Bello for starting it in the first place, and encouragement to everyone who has come around since then to check out all of the really great CAS contests in this thread
 
So are we going through with this mythical creature competition? I have a bit of a twofor I'd like to contribute.
