If this is true, kiss offline tournaments goodbye, because there is no way TO's are paying for hotel internet for all of those consoles. Just saying it's a death knell.

Also, this will simply induce me to pirate things. Give me convenience and I will gladly pay money (Steam, iTunes), give me a pain in the ass and I *will* pirate on principle (Diablo 3, every ubisoft game ever made).
 
The reason why I like offline gaming over online gaming is because games like SCV make me social for offline stuff. Introduce online only SCVI for instance, that's kind of destroys the purpose of offline>online. In short, I'll end up staying a TV basketball scrub instead of a player who wishes to stay in the NBA. If that analogy makes sense.

Hopefully, they won't do this.
