Dampierre Q&A / General Discussion

You have to put in a lot more effort but it's certainly possible to win with him at a high level. There will be times where you may have to counterpick but you don't have to.

Mashing B!E is very unreliable and I wouldn't recommend doing it. Once you learn the timing for it, it becomes a lot easier to do. I still screw it up quite often but I'm a lot better at it now compared to when I used mash the input.
Ah ok well then I'll make sure to practice the timing for it then, when I try to time it apparently I just dont hit the buttons fast enough and I miss the frame; I guess its my own fault for being lazy in training Dx

real le bello is the only way to go for me. i find it funny using dampierre because of his abnormal height. in fact if you look closely he is pretty much the same height as nightmare. also i have noticed when doing his poker bluff B . his tophat is part of his hit box so you can hit people from farther away then you think.

Oh I never noticed that his top hat was part of his hitbox I'll have to see it in training. Are you sure he is the same height or it looks that way cuz of his hat?

look how long his legs are compared to everyone else. :P creeps me out a tad

He needs long and strong legs for that B!E! to launch them in the air xD and if you ever run out of time he needs those legs to be fast enough to run away

Hi! I got a few quick questions. I just started with Le Bello and have been trying to figure out how to extend the grabs hits. Dampierre is no character I tend to use often, but I'd like do know this:

(standing) B+G, he spanks opponents butt 2-3 times, but how do I make it maximum hits?
(during PB, downed) B+G_A+G, same question here, how do I get max facepunshes? xD

Mash all direction and and buttons as fast as you can.

For B+G, it appears to be completely random. While mashing *might* increase the chances for more hits, it hasn't been consistent enough for me to feel that it does. Plus I've gotten a high amount of spanks plenty of times without any mashing at all. But I suppose it doesn't hurt to mash anyways just incase.

As for his PB A+G/B+G/B, while just mashing directions increases the hits, mashing everything increases it even more. However, the opponent can simply counter mash with directionals only to minimize the hits.

Lastly his third mashable move is his side throw where he stomps on you for a while. Normally after the animation he falls into Poker Bluff, but if you mash directionals (seems to work better if u just mash everything) he will land on his feet and in a better wakeup position. There's a downside to this though; a break window opens up during the stomping animation in which the opponent can press A or B (depending on what the throw was done with) which will allow them to escape.

I actually discovered this a long time ago on the PSP version. And when I met Dampierre's creator/SCV Director Daishi Odashima last year, I showed it to him because I thought it was a glitch. However SCV got released, and even 3 patches later and it's still there. Which is odd because that break window mechanic doesn't make any sense and seems glitchy.

hmmm been using a bit of damp haha he's a bit fun for me=o erm does damp have any good step killers? I have no clue so far all I do is space out and go for 11B into his just frame kicks

I didnt realize his side throw had a different animation I always thought he fell into PB :O

for le bellos punching grab. what the hell is up with those last two punches. and how do i land them more often

66A is safe and can't be stepped. Up close AA catches if they step to your right but not so much if they step to your left, so I like to use 4K instead if I know they will step that way. Just go through his movelist, it's not hard to point out moves that can kill step.

It's completely random, neither player can control the outcome of that.

Thanks for the info. I was like "mashing buttons and directions really? o.O" but okay i'll give it a try. However it sounds like the creators of SCV didn't really bother so much about Dampierre.

I do wonder what the idea was to have Dampierre be so random, not that I complain because I love that aspect of him but I wonder what inspired the creator to make him like that

One of the main reasons I started playing Dampierre was because he reminded me of Doctor.B from Tekken 3. While his moves weren't random, they were wacky, trolltastic and required you to spend a lot of time with the character trying to figure out how his moves worked. Dampierre is just like this. He isn't a character you can just pick up and learn in a few days. He plays so differently from everyone else that you have to take a completely different approach when playing as him.

I actually thought the more slaps you nailed from Damp's PB throw, the more likely his last 2 hits will fail (from experience). Counter mashing plays some factor as well (I think) as you have a higher chance of #1, getting less hits, #2 last punches fail.

Also off topic, I saw a lady do 22K, posted on a bus advertisement, will take a pic before they change it.

I have never had the last punch fail on a counter mash but I don't play Dampierre as hard body as I used too. Maybe I'm just extra lucky.

You're completely right about this. I forgot to mention it.

I actually always thought that move was inspired by Mr 2 aka Bon Clay from the Japanese manga/anime series One Piece.
