Xiba, Yoshimitsu, Cervantes and Aeon Confirmed!

Today, Famitsu announced four new characters for Soulcalibur V! While Yoshimitsu was "sort of" announced in the custom character trailer, there was never any real confirmation. As well, hints about Aeon Calcos comings from soundtrack leaks (the same way Raphael was discovered early). Aeon Calcos in case you don't know, is the original Lizardman!

In addition to the return of the immortal Cervantes, Namco has revealed a new staff user by the name of "Xiba". Xiba, a character clearly designed around the Monkey King from the Journey to the West story in Chinese Folklore. Several months back, Daishi stated on his twitter that Kilik was an "ill-fated" character. With the introduction of Xiba, it begs the question: "What happened to Kilik?"

i know it's a tiger but the way it's placed looks like a monkey tail not to mention the poses he does. and the monkey with a poll is overused. Dragon ball did the same thing. i'm well aware of the Chinese myth. but it's used a lot. just look around a little bit.

Xiba - Again, a pretty unworthy replacement for Kilik, and honestly, I hated Kilik (I will always stand by the fact that he is originally a Mina clone). Not the travesty that is the situation with natsu right now, but I understand the rage going about. Hey, at least we have an idea what happened to Kilik, he's probably dead. Taki OTOH... is just MIA.

Yoshimitsu - umm, yep.

Cervantes - Totally lame new threads, and boring normal looking guy again. I have to agree, very unintimidating for an "undead" pirate. This new look is almost as bad as his 3p Soul Edge costume. I totally wanted more undead-ness. Guts missing, ribs exposed, half skeleton. Guess that's too many polys to ask for. Gonna miss Shura more now...

Raft Stage - Awesome! Glad to see there will be at least one stage that Ring Out will matter on. We need more open edge stages like this!

And yes, it looks like Tira gives Pyrrha her sword. So going by its red aura, we can assume it will morph into SoulEdge, and somehow, Patroklos has SoulCalibur. They fight, sparks and explosions ensue, and the history of this game is forgotten. Oh, but then inferno pops up not liking that Pat beats up his sister. Snore... I really hope its better than that.

I like how the character designs for all of the characters revealed so far are pretty basic for the most part. Yes, basic, but basic does not mean boring. One thing that aggravates me is when the concept artists for characters give them a million little trinkets and belts and buttons and random crap on their outfit that does not make any sense being their (yes anime, I am hinting at you). Seeing the basics, plus a few added stuff for their trademark is perfect. Good job Namco (although its gonna take me some time to get used to the new Cervy).

Also, if I may, I am going to predict that Bangoo will be revealed alongside Talim in the future. Bangoo will be the new traveling companion of Talim, replacing Yun-Seong. For some reason I can see that being a very good combination of characters.

Xiba (or whatever) looks pretty fun and looks cool, i like him.
