Ivy Patch Notes 1.02 & 1.03 Discussion

Ehh... I was still hoping for more to be done to iCS in particular than just a "higher clean hit rate" and "less meter for opponent," improvements which also apply to normal CS. There's still just a 9 (or 13 on clean hit) damage difference between the two versions.
 
I know Clean Hit CS is 93 damage, I'm just still noting that the only difference between normal hit CS/iCS is just 9 damage, and clean hit CS/iCS 13 damage.

iCS imo could have stood to have more distinct advantages with the huge plateau of difficulty between it and normal CS. Anything like slightly more damage, a tighter break window, the classic CS grab animation or its range. iCS's niche is still hovering around "not worth it" from what I see before me. Keeping it a truly rare occurrence is all well and good by me, but it would be nice if the move had the assets to really make it worth the extra effort.

what did you envision, more damage for iCS? less for CS? I think the damage difference is grand for what the moves are.

edit. sorry what I basically mean is, if you don't think it's worth it, don't do it. I reckon the psychological advantage alone of your opponent knowing you know they know you did iCS instead of CS is almost difference enough even if it was only 4/5 points of damage different.
 
I'm happy with this, I can't wait... May I also add that I am happy to see a lot of "decrease damage" for the spam-happy OP characters, and a lot of "increase damage" for our ever beloved Isabella... ^_^
 
I'm glad Ivy actually gets "patched", unlike Tira.... my poor Tira....

I can't figure out what they mean by this... at first I thought they might be referring to FC 1B, 1b BE, but then I saw the "while turning moves", so that can't be it....
 
Utoh-san told me Tira was broken (he actually used the word "broken") but people haven't found the imba stuff yet .

I can't figure out what they mean by this... at first I thought they might be referring to FC 1B, 1b BE, but then I saw the "while turning moves", so that can't be it....
They are referring to FC 1B, BT B, 6B8 for example. This combo does 10 points more than regular FC 1B, G, 6B8. However, after the patch, both FC 1B and 6B8 will do more damage (+2 and +5) so it's gonna be a 3dmg nerf... nothing serious.
 
I just downloaded the patch. Random observations:

- After FC 1B, any move from BT launches the opponent much lower so the air throw never connects
- FC 1B, G, 6B8 does 78 dmg now. 6B8 BE still 89
- 6B8K on standing opponent still 40dmg! No buff here
- 6(B)2_8 still whiffs a lot. Not really seeing any change here
- 6AK doesn't KND on CH but the second hit can be delayed a lot
- 44A is not stepable at all, unless at close range
- 1B BE, 6KB still whiffs completely on some characters when 1B BE was done from the side or back. The CH effect of 1B BE is gone. The combo does 68 dmg now
- 66[A] is AT LEAST +10 on hit now! Also has pushback on the second hit and cannot be interrupted. Super nice!
- 22_88A - safe, spin stun on NH with big advantage
- 44A+B nerfed completely, you can only use normal version or full charged UB
- CE seems very fast O.o
- 3[A] has a CH stun, but there seems to be some strange effects that makes any fast attack whiff (2A, BB, 6K etc) even though opponent seems to be still "standing" during the stun. 8A+B,(B) connects for 52dmg.
- Normal CS has clean hit B like iCS pre-patch
- SS does have improved Clean Hit rate but still it doesn't happen very often
- 7_8_9B+K launches on NH. Combos into 6B8 for 61dmg or 6B8 BE for 69 dmg.

Overall it seems like a minor buff but I still appreciate the changes.

66[A], 3[A], 22_88[A] and 44[A] seem to be good now. Her step killing game was really lacking, now it's much better. Throws/CE fixed. Slightly more damage in combos. That's good.

One thing that worries me is that now that 6B8 does more damage, there is only 10dmg difference between 6B8 and 6B8 BE in combos.
 
Ring I guess your a day ahead because doesn't the patch drop tomorrow or do you just have the hook up as usuall?
 
No, it's available here in EU for everyone. You should check your PS3.

CE is pretty nice now, it actually frame traps after moves like BB,AA,2A etc but the reach is still very small.
 
I just checked it not up yet guess I have to wait until tomorrow, oh now you will actually grab me after the gi lol. Ill probably use CE ore not I have working on JG and then using and it would be perfect against a certain someones hilde.

Edit: also glad they fixxed 66A I. Always like the move a felt like it didn't live up to it potential now it does jut that if not more
 
Damn. Looks like I'm gonna be practicing my FC1B, G, 6B8 from now on. I had used that BT B in the middle of it alot so seeing it not work anymore is dissapointing.
 
I don't wanna say anything yet, but 3[A] seems kind of braindead now with the backdash nerfed. At least it's still unsafe. There's no reason to use 6[A] now.

Interesting. I'm intrigued by the 6AK change, for instance. Mindgames and all that.

1B BE... that's sad, but I'll deal.

Quick question though, does 7_8_9B+K launch on NH regardless of whether it hits grounded (SC4 style) or just standing? If it's the former, then it's a new combo. If it's the latter, it's a zoning tool.

Tira.... broken.... @_@ really?! since when?? if he means when compared with the Tiras from previous games, then I'd agree. maybe there's some secrets to using Tira that I'd never learned...

i'm still going to use the BE version because it looks absolutely awesome!! one of the most awesome-looking moves in SCV!!!

That and the wall combo should be something like this now.

... (starter) - 6B8 BE - w! - 7_8_9B+K (launch) - 6B8 BE - w! - 7_8_9B+K (launch) - 6B8

Two wall splats, and assuming it can launch twice. If not, change the last 7_8_9B+K into 1_2_3 B+K 2x.
