This is the second instance I've seen myself mentioned with the big names listed above and it's still pleasantly surprising. I mean, I think the stuff I make is usually pretty good, too, but to hold it in comparison with their work is, in my opinion, a different story altogether; I'm honored that people have made that comparison with confidence.
Honestly, dude, in the opinion of this "master," you're not very far behind. Where your potential lies is your ability to use special equipment to build such unexpected constructions. That's the reason I commented on The Dead and the unknown creature.
Well, I learned my tricks from a few sources.
1) Other CaS makers' threads: I really like staring at pictures of CaS and figuring out what kinds of tricks with stickers, patterns, and special equipment the author used. I get especially excited if I can't figure out what they did right away.
2)
Dampierre and Co's CaS Tips and Tricks Compendium Curio~!: The best way to learn something is to do it yourself, so, one time, I sat myself down and reproduced every tip and trick posted in this thread. It really upped my CaS-making game; I think you could go into my thread and see in between which CaS I did this just from looking at the pictures.
3) Constructive criticism: Back when I started SCV CaS, I loved to leave saturation high. 8 and 9 were my friends and sometimes 7 could hang, too, when he wasn't busy being such a boring milquetoast of a number. However, one guy came into my thread and called me out on the saturation levels, so I toyed around with them at 1-7 and saw that limiting the levels really was the way to go.
