Leixia Q&A/General Strategy Thread

Hey guys, new player here. Been playing SCV (my first Soul Calibur game) since around October when my roommate at college introduced me. I've always been really intrigued by fighters (really tried to get into the SSBB competitive scene) and even though I've never been great at fighters, SCV felt very natural to me. I quickly fell in love with the way the game played. Leixia felt the most comfortable at first, so I've stuck with her since the beginning. I discovered this site, and I've been enjoying the discussions and helpful hints that can be found here.

So me and my roommate have both been playing a lot and we get the chance to play each other on the weekends. He is so much more fundamentally smarter and stronger than me. He's memorized my patterns to the point where he can use anyone and beat me because he can predict all my movements. I know this is a hard thing to ask since I don't have any uploaded videos so you don't really know my play style, but what do you do when you have someone that can fundamentally beat you to the ground or knows all the tricks up your sleeve? How do you try to mix things up?

So yeah, I hope to stick around, become a better Leixia, learn a thing or two about matchups, and have a good time with this community!

Essentially, if he knows all your patterns, that means YOU know how his going to react to that. The way mix it up is to simply use something different in place of your regular routine. And since he's got you pegged as predictable, throw in something a bit more unconventional.

What moves/strings do you normally end up using? If we know that we could offer alternatives. And if you want some basic Leixia practice, feel free to add me on Xbox, though I'm not sure I'll help you improve much, being only decent at best.

So going from Fray's recent tech (AA[BE]>Guard Crush>44[A]>AA[BE]>Double Wall>6BA(AT)>[CE]) has really been doing work for me, making me feel rather ignorant to her potential. However I am honestly suprised. After discussing before the vid about how I tend to put CE and AABE into different combos due to the scaling on the CE being so damn high, I'm suprised almost confused as to why the damage scaling is minimal for the CE in that combo. Because I could do a smaller combo with less damage and the scaling will be much higher.

I'm aware that Leixia has her crazy ass scaling properties in her wrB[BE], but maybe there is other stuff I'm missing? Does the 6BA(AT) do something similar to the scaling of the CE?

Tested guard breaks for a while.

For a moment, I thought I was on to something with breaking with BT K (that's right, just K), but it's just a little bit too slow for 44[A]. I also tested with the final hit of 22kAAK, but with no luck.

Breaking with the last hit of 4BB does indeed grant 44[A] combos, but setting it up can be tricky.

Lastly, I re-tested breaking with 3B+K K, and got mixed results. If used off a launcher, the last hit CAN grant 44[A], but they can AC or Tech to mess it up.

If one follows up launchers with 1B or 6A+B (when applicable) most of the time, then use 3B+K only for the break, it's unlikely that the opponent will get out of it.

None of this is anything new, but, I thought I'd share - I haven't posted here for a while.

Yes, I would love some. I'm getting to that point where I feel like I'm using the same 5 moves and not switching things up at all. I need some help before I get into a rut where I become completely uncreative. Anytime over this week is good with me since now I'm on spring break.
But I'll move the rest of this convo into the online delight thread.

Just a reminder to everyone - the XBL meet is tonight.

I'll be starting a room around 9:00 PM (MST).

Check the "online delight" thread for more details.

After watching Winter Brawl and then reading the MTFighter appreciation thread on this SA I got inspired to make this. Enjoy.
