Okay, here are my first batch of entries...
Izumo no Okuni
Okuni (出雲の阿国 Izumo no Okuni?, 1572? - ?) was the originator of kabuki theater. She was believed to be a miko at the Grand Shrine of Izumo who began performing this new style of dancing, singing, and acting in the dry riverbeds of Kyoto.
Nōhime
Lady Nö (濃姫?) also Kichō (帰蝶) ("hime" means lady, princess, woman of noble family), was the wife of Oda Nobunaga, a major daimyo during the Sengoku period of Japanese history. Her proper name was Kichō, but since she came from Mino Province, she is most commonly referred to as Nōhime (Lady of Mino). She was renowned for her beauty and cleverness.
Nōhime's father was the daimyo Saitō Dōsan and her mother was known as Omi no Kata. Nō herself appears very little in any historical record, and there is not a lot of information on the dates of her birth or death; however, proposed dates for her birth fall between 1533–1535.
Oichi
Oichi (お市?) (1547–1583) a female historical figure in the late Sengoku period. She is known primarily as the mother of three daughters who married well – Yodo-dono, Ohatsu and Oeyo.
Oichi was the younger sister of Oda Nobunaga; and she was the sister-in-law of Nōhime, the daughter of Saitō Dōsan. Oichi was equally renowned for her beauty and her resolve. She was descended from the Taira and Fujiwara clans.
Honestly don't know if they are eligible, but i like their looks :P
*snip*
I thought Sen Goku was the guy from Dragonball
Those are very cool, especially the third one.
I don't know how you do it but all those cutie asian CAS look like petite porcelaine dolls.
Sometimes studying a lot of what Japan makes it easy to make cute onna bugeishas(Japanese for female warriors) for instance. I still have lots to learn about Japan since I'm fascinated to a fault. Believe it or not, Mitsurugi and Yoshimitsu originally were inspired from Sengoku era stuff. Mitsurugi is known to be inspired from some Miyamoto Musashi while Yoshimitsu(The First not the second)......well Nobunaga killed his clan for not serving Nobunaga. Further down along the line, they are their own character doing their own things.
While stereotyping is what we CAS artists do, we have to keep some of the essence of what they are at times. That being said, the Mitsurugi with the armor is great example to being Nobunaga cosplay(an idea I'm cooking up), but the rest are nice Japanese stuff but that's it....
Yeah it wouldn't feel right doing this contest without studying a little foreign culture first. Is it almost necessary to base these creations off of research that you would have to do on the Sengoku era.... What's your take on this? I think this whole idea for a contest challenge is pure gold, having to learn about history while being creative, well it's pretty cool to say the least.
This is horrible, I was going to produce two more amazing entries but now my SC5 disk is scratched & wont work... Most likely this contest challenge will be over with before I get another disk :'(
