They modified Soul Charge for SCVI, which does add more properties to some moves as well as turn some combos into Brave Edge-esque combos. Reversal Edge is different; it's the clash mechanic that was heavily featured in the first trailer.

Wait... SOUL CHARGE IS BACK!? How did I not notice D:

And I don't see why others want console exclusive guests in this day and age of corporate greed and underhanded business practices.

I never said I wanted console-specific guest characters lol, and I would much prefer the universal guest but I don't see why they wouldn't do console-specific guests if they could, day and age of corporate greed be damned.

I was just teasing you with a joke. Don't be so serious omg it's just a guest character

If the game does have guest characters, which one(s) do you think it will be?
My answer to this, from another post:
I don't think roster speculation will go too far until we get a confirmation on whether they'll keep or delete SCV from canon. Sure, it looks like they will do it, but without an actual confirmation, we can speculate literally anyone. There is something, however, which we can speculate freely, because it will not be affected by story: guest characters. The whole Fire Emblem character seems to me like its just a character that looks like Fire Emblem or plays similar to one, because of the way Vergeben said it: "suspected to be a Fire Emblem character for reasons I cannot divulge". He could easily say its suspected to be a Fire Emblem character, but the last part about the reasons, it could be because people think the character resembles too much someone from Fire Emblem. Besides, I think making a console-exclusive guest is a very bad idea.

There are others I can speculate, though:
- William Adams (Nioh) - Nioh was a great and succesful game, which caught a lot of attention. Bringing William to the game would make total sense, not only because of its success, but also because he fits in the time period, as he is from the Sengoku period, which is around when Soul Calibur happens as well. Not to mention that William could gain some of the "weapon changing" thing that the leak mentioned, and it would fit him greatly because of how many movesets he can use in his game. Namco already gave Sophitia to Koei's Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, so I wouldn't doubt they would make their characters cross again.

- Someone (Dynasty Warriors) - With Dynasty Warriors 9 coming next year, I can easily see Namco getting a DW character instead of William. DW9 will have a lot more meaning than other DW titles because it will have huge updates in gameplay, so maybe including one of their newcomers or even a popular character would be a good idea for SCVI. DW9 will still have some over the top weapons (even though it was greatly reduced) and 1v1000 gameplay, but any moveset could be easily translated to Soul Calibur well enough.

- Mai Shiranui (KoF) and/or Gladiolus (FFXV) - Putting these together for the same reason, they're both from franchises with guests for Tekken now. I could put someone from Street Fighter too, but I cannot think of anyone important that would truly fit in Soul Calibur. Mai and Gladiolus both use weapons and could extend the partnership between Namco with SNK and Square-Enix. Mai could easily have a boob battle with Ivy... okay, I'm sorry, Mai would be really cool with all her fire attacks, and I put Gladiolus instead of Noctis because the latter is already used and Gladiolus seems to be really popular, specially considering the ammount of hentai they did with him.

- Someone (Tekken) - This seems kinda random, but I wouldn't be surprised if some moveset from Tekken would end up at least like Devil Jin in SCV, or, maybe a character itself, even if just to promote the franchise.

As much as I would love there being only one universal guest character, the prospect of the game being released on multiple platforms (as well as possible Switch port) brings up the idea of version-exclusive guests. Geralt for PC, a Fire Emblem character for Switch (probably Lucina or Corrin); as for PS4/XBONE, (insert JRPG character here).
Everything can bring bad ideas. I fail to see why its a good idea to bring characters exclusive to one port of the game and frustrate players who could want them, instead of bringing someone to be on all platforms and appease everyone. Besides, even from a tournament perspective this would be a bad idea, the characters would have to be banned since players wouldn't buy all platforms just to practice against them.

Because PC has no iconic exclusives
It has, actually. But nothing with extensive movesets (of course, that wouldn't be necessary considering that Spawn, the Star Wars characters and Ezio had lots of moves made for them), think about... pretty much anyone that uses a weapon in League of Legends, for example, I bet Riot Games wouldn't mind lending one of their characters, maybe they could even time that up with a crossover skin for those who bought the game.

Well whatever, as I said I stand by my claim that the guest should be available on all systems.
I stand firmly at your side.

And I don't see why others want console exclusive guests in this day and age of corporate greed and underhanded business practices.
This is one of the main issues, actually. It would bring nothing but frustration and it could even potentially reduce the visibility of the guests, since they would end up banned in tournament play. Again, why not add a single character to appease everyone?

I was just teasing you with a joke. Don't be so serious omg it's just a guest character
"Just a guest character" brings a lot of hype for every game, specially in some specific cases. You can bet, for example, that the TMNT are the most hyped DLC for Injustice 2. This should be done in a non-frustrating way.

Why go any further for guest characters when we can get a Dark Souls dude (*cough*BandaiNamcoIP*cough*) like Ornstein in easily :3
Not only him, between Demon's Souls, the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne, we can have quite a long list of potential characters. Its not like we're out of options.

Because the appeal of guest characters is to have someone from another company altogether.
Not really, the appeal is seeing someone from a different franchise appearing with a different gameplay in a different game. It doesn't have to be from outside, most people wouldn't care about that.

That didn't stop them with putting in Heihachi and Devil Jin.
Those are not really good examples, because Heihachi is the guest people cared least about in SC2 (the guy is just not the level of Link and Spawn) and Devil Jin was not entirely in SC5, his guest appearence was much more subtle and the game he appeared in was terrible.

Heihachi was because they couldn't get Cloud Strife, Devil Jin was just a bonus CAS style.

Those are not really good examples, because Heihachi is the guest people cared least about in SC2 (the guy is just not the level of Link and Spawn) and Devil Jin was not entirely in SC5, his guest appearence was much more subtle and the game he appeared in was terrible.

But for better or worse it sets a precedence that they are not adverse to using characters from the same company.

I just don't see guest characters as being a topic to get aggravated over. They could literally be anyone, so why take the speculation stage so seriously?

I'm not necessarily saying console-specific characters is a good idea, or one that I support (why is this getting misconstrued), but I'm saying it's possible for them to revert back to that formula since they're going multiplatform once more.

I have to admit that I only knew what 2B from NieR: Automata looked like because of a random picture to compare the (very good) cosplay for her that someone hand-sewed for Detroit’s Youmacon event.

The only thing I even knew about from Automata was some OSTs, specifically Goliath I, which are great.

Upon going to look at actual gameplay I am personally awestruck by the depiction of her personality, style and movement, and would thus enjoy seeing 2B introduced as a guest much more than I’ve ever even thought about a guest in any game in any way.

I’ll also be moving to purchase NieR: Automata the day after the first paycheck I receive after finally being done with college classes next Thursday, and will have much more fun with that than Tekken 7.

This revelation was all in between now and when I told Nyte I had no true problem with 2B.

If she had to abide by the idiotic concept of being specific to a console, PS4.
