[North Carolina] Let's make a scene

But I played low tier. :(

Eh. I'll be more active in the NC scene as soon as SC5 drops. These past 5 or 6 years I've just been bandwagon jumping to the popular fighter at the moment. I'm not a 2d player so its pretty obvious how well that went. Its hard to really show up and enter tournies in games you're only dedicated to because your favorite fighting game is in a funk.


But hey. I've started back posting here! That obviously means something.
 
I'll give you 12.

#12: 22_88B - Brain-dead scrub killer.

#11: 33_99_77A+B - Shoryuken.

#10: 3A - Brain-dead good low.

#9: 3B - Can't go wrong w/ a brain-dead launcher like this.

#8: 6B+K and 6B+KG (waterfall cancels) - Close distance like a giraffe!

#7: 1aK - Good hori-mid. Mix-ups galore afterwards!

#6: 44A - Evading hori-mid.

#5: BB - Good check.

#4: FC3B - Good safe launcher.

#3: 1A - Safe low, great advantage on normal hit.

#2: WSA+B - Deceptive low. Mix projection w/ FC3B. Good advantage on hit. Mix ups afterward. Can even do another one.

#1: AAB - Keeps every character in the game honest to allow X to do what she does. Sometimes people were so afraid of this checking them all the time they froze to the point where she never even had to throw it out a round or two. It's a fundamental string, yet was fierce.

SC2 Xianghua was stupidly good and brain-dead. I stuck w/ Talim mostly through SC2. But when I pulled out X that's when most sessions (in NC) ended. Cursing ensued. Violent eruptions in the earth. Babies were aborted. I'm probably missing a couple moves in that list. It's been so long.

My favorite X is SC3 X, however.

Nah. I mean, if your opponent was good and patient 44B wasn't used much except to remind you that she has it. It's good, but not on my top ten. Remember that SC2 was pretty defense heavy, so offensive rushes calmed down too soon to just throw 44B out blindly (and 8wr was the most useful in that game). I used it more in SC3 since more players seemed more confident to continue pressure. And when it came down to it, in SC2, all the better characters could deal w/ 44B without any thought (*cough* Ivy *sneeze* *poop*).
 
All of that SC2 goodness is nulled by Xianghua's SC3 66A+B~G

That's not even the icing on the cake. The terrible part about 66A+B~G is she could do just fine w/o the damn move! But it can definitely be dealt w/. Doug, Lo and Travis were pretty good at keeping X honest about using it.

Lol @ them taking that away in SC4. Like would you take it away if the 66B and 66BK were terrible?

Actually they took away all of his canned strings. SCIV Zasalamel is so stupid.
 
Yeah, his 66BB series wasn't that great to begin w/. It just took time to recognize it in the first month or so of the game being out. So there was really no reason to discard the move other than the possibility of the developers wanting players to play Zas a certain way instead of the way he was played in SC3.
 
The concept of only doing the first hit on a 2-in-1 because the second hit was unsafe was something I didnt understand until I was about 18.

PS. I'm sick to death of playing against Ivy, it's the only character my buddy can win with now...

If your near me, please DON'T HESITATE to contact me. My immediate City doesn't seem to have a SC community. I suppose I am willing to travel all the way to Virginia if need be.

I'm looking forward to this game competitively now that I don't suck at fighting games. I was winning tournaments in dumb ass mode, so I wonder where I'll be actually knowing how to play fighting games. :sc5vio1:

I just hope it has a decent scene. Soul Calibur notoriously attracts scrubs but very few serious players.

Since my son has been born, I'm comfortable w/ riding long distances again to session. Just in time to pick up SC5! It's been a tiring yet rewarding 9+ months!

Nope! Google took it down. :\ My X-Flow skill video and Roski's video are still up. And I deleted all the raw copies.

I just got a new cell phone, the number I gave you. I haven't had one for several years and I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to phones. I didn't realize that I had to set up my voicemail in order to get one. My GF is gonna help me set it up because I'm retarded :). So, if you called and weren't able to leave a message, I'm sorry, I'll handle that tonight when my GF gets off work.

Still up for some SC? I can't wait to play someone else for a change!
