I recently had to fight Vilarcane's son, who's 7. I had to "Let him win, but don't make it obvious." It was actually a lot of fun, going for style over substance. (Though in one fight he legit beat me, which left me a tad gobsmacked). The best bet is just to beat them anyway, but give them a few openings to exploit if they can.
