his backdash is amazing. you don't use it at close range - thats what your pushback/KND is for. You need to use his tools at tiprange, where they are safe due to pushback. If you do it this way not even siegfried's 3B could catch your backstep.

Yeah I do that but my whiff punishment at safe tip range is not good enough to really punish my opponent's whiffs (as i said due to the poor input of most of his tools at that range). And unlike Ivy, my opponent can freely rush in for his ZOMG 50/50 mix-up and give me a free prostrate exam.

Meh, I think Nightmare's SC5 backdash used to be amazing (I was the first to predict this on this board) but now its a decent backdash in a front dashing game.

NM has more tools to get out of close range than other spacing chars. 6K or A+B can be totally free depending on the MU, iaga makes sure they don't get in easily and if inputs are matter just whiffpunish with 22B which is pretty easy. punishing with 33B is not really hard though and leads easily to around 120 (half life)

6K is free lunch on step or duck (compared to AA for more of the top tier), iagA sets Nightmare up for a free huge damage punish on whiff (which is much easier to because Nightmare steps forward for no reason during the animation) and is much more unsafe than Sieg's iagA.

Also because it is difficult to step cancel iagA in SC5 (unlike in SC4, where the input for iagA was easy to use in the spacing game), Nightmare has to use it in the standing game (or going forward game) only.

Whiff punishing with gs B6 is almost impossible (firstly you have to take the big risk to go into GS, secondly its waaaay to slow) and with 33B it used to be easy in SC4, now with it increased to 30 frames due to the input makes it significantly weaker. Also most of the tech traps are gone from 33B (which makes him more boring to play).

Oh man, you have no idea how unsafe NM's iagA is compared to Siegs. NM's iagA makes him take a step forward after the active hit box which is a free "punish me" sign if you whiff (which is quite often at NM"s ideal operating range).

Sieg's recovers much more quickly on whiff and is almost safe unless ducked at close range. I spoke at length about this with Zerokage who is the 3rd-4th best player in Singapore and a NM main. We both agree he is mid tier.

I don't want a braindead character, I want a character which is able to use the tools he has at his disposal viably in the real game. And I want Nightmare's mix-up game back which he had earlier in SC5. With the advent of easy JG and the ass balls throw nerf, NM has been reduced to back step all day.

This would be fine if it was easy to punish with 33B for example but the shitty input (which increases its speed to 30 frames) makes his long range whiff punish ability comical. Only free lunch whiff moves get punished by 33B now and tip range 3B is terrible for its unsafety. I could go on.

how the fuck do you react to an i15/16 move? no one can react to something that fast. the argument about the tinsy step during the animation is totally pointless. if you want to make a point siegs iaga is a frame slower - THAT would be a reasonable deficit.

Bro as i have said its i15 but its recovery on whiff is extremely long. Added to the fact that cannot be step cancelled from back and side step, makes it much worse than Sieg's. If you have been punished for half your HP from a whiff ed iagA, then you'll understand our concern.
