i dont think there is a way unless if you brang a 360 that already had it patched of course. how many people you got?

Bring in your own hard drive (it's really easy to swap out 360 HDDs to bring around saves) or a USB with your saves on it. That way you have all the patches as well as everything unlocked.

The problem is that at my school's media library we're playing on the new 360s which don't have removable hard drives :/ I tried moving my profile/save data to my USB today and playing with it plugged in but I'm pretty sure the game wasn't patched because I could cancel backstep with guard.

It does come out, you just have to take the side out, and it slides out from a little hole
