Moonbeaux

[08] Mercenary
Hey guys I recently started playing alpha patroklos and I'm decent but not great. I am looking for other players on Xbox live who want to maybe teach me what they know with him or who are also learning so that maybe we can play and help each other out. My gamertag is Moonbeaux send me a friend request and a message. Hopefully we can help each other out. Bring a mic please so we can talk and discuss his combos, movelist, and tactics. Thanks :)

I hope this isn't old enough to be considered necroposting. I feel that this is needed.

There really isn't much to aPat's strategy. If you master his execution, which would take a lifetime, then his moves and combos are pretty straightforward. Fight and learn against Edge Master on Legendary souls for tactics.

As far as winning with him goes...Once you get his moves down, use his range and speed to your advantage to overwhelm any opponent. Sakura Twister is good for whiff punishing only, and mastering his just frames will win you the match.

I personally feel that aPat is too ridiculous to use when there are more simple characters who can be almost as effective without having to press 316 extra buttons pressed per round. He is worth it if you're willing to master him, and I understand that his complexity allows him to be more powerful, but I also find that his complexity is unnecessary. They could have made him easier.

Out of the hundreds of thousands of good Soul Calibur players who have attempted to master aPat, only a few hundred managed to pull it off. So ask yourself, is he really worth it?

^ Don't listen to that guy. Alpha is a blast to play.
No doubt he is fun. They could make him easier to use, however. Setsuka on SCIV is a good example of that.

As I've said before, they made him more complicated to give him more power.

If your looking to just play online with apat I would say it's not worth it. The execution learning curve is steep af, plus a lot of a pat's fundamental's are janky without his jf's. Like his throws have really crappy range so you have to run up which gives the opponent a larger duck window. He doesn't have good pokes besides twister. Really poor mid-tracking step killers. Back-step can be a bitch too if you haven't nailed twister yet.

I guess if you consider something -22 on block and 70 damage on hit a poke, yeah.

sorry "involved in the poking" game. discourage back step, counter hit, or tech jump after getting hit with a 2k or poking low. fishing for couters after a fc 2k at range yada yada

Correct me if I'm wrong. Until I see the correct information I am sticking with my story.

Anyone here can get you whatever information you are looking for. http://8wayrun.com/forums/a-patroklos.121/

But...

This thread was 3 months old with no new posts. There's plenty of other current threads to post in.

What are you basing this on?

If you master his execution, which would take a lifetime, then his moves and combos are pretty straightforward. Fight and learn against Edge Master on Legendary souls for tactics.

It doesn't take a lifetime to master his execution. And all the CPU does is read your inputs.

Sakura Twister is good for whiff punishing only, and mastering his just frames will win you the match.

What.

He's not that complex in SCV, but he still requires execution.

The majority of the roster is already pretty easy to use. APat is in the game to satisfy those who don't want an easy character to use.

Hundreds of thousands? What? If we had hundreds of thousands of good Soulcalibur players, then this game wouldn't be dead.
