Dedup's CAS Characters

Dedup

[08] Mercenary
Hi everyone. I just wanted to share my characters with everyone. I'll post them and their backgrounds in separate spoiler tags as some of them are a little long while others are just a couple lines of character concept.

Helherren

My first SC5 creation. Like with many of my characters he's the result of mostly goofing around until something started to look good. My main reason for him was to have a character with the Devil Jin move set. The name was sort of a brain fart. It has Hel(l) in it and it sounded kinda of cool so I kept it.

A former military commander. He's recently gone rogue and seems to be gathering an army of his own. There have also been unsettling rumors that he has been delving into dark magicks.

Valkyrie

This is a remake of a character I had in SC4. I changed a few things but the theme is similar. I didn't do any real research into what a Valkyrie should actually look like so the look maybe completely off, but I still like the look of her. She uses Pyrrha Omega's move set.

A gatherer of Norse warrior dead. For some reason the souls of warriors no longer await the Valkyrie to be led to Valhalla. Odin has thus ordered on of his most accomplished Valkyrie to investigate Midgaard to find and eliminate the source of the disruption.

Midnight

Another remake of one of my SC4 characters. Basically I wanted to make young thief with a playful nature. Uses Leixia's move set.

Midnight is a master thief who seeks to use the current conflicts as an opportunity to liberate treasure from their unworthy owners.

Ophideus

I saw a character with the snake skin pattern in quick battle and wanted to make a snake man character. Unfortunately I had problems with the head which is why its just a skull face right now. Also as you can see the character goes all to hell when his armor is broken since he doesn't really have a proper face. I could use something that leaves the head exposed except it doesn't look any better since as far as I can tell you can't apply snakeskin pattern to skin and none of the face paints really cut it.

A descendant of the snake Titan Ophion. Having been born with a stronger than usual influence from his Titan ancestor, Ophideus was abandoned shortly after his birth. Instead of falling prey to the elements, Ophideus survived as a snake would in the wilderness. As he grew, Ophideus fell in with unsavory types who taught him to steal and murder to survive. Ophideus' talent at killing led to him becoming one of the most feared assassins in the land. Despite his conspicuous and fearsome looks he is able to kill targets even in crowded cities by making his way through dark hidden paths, avoided by decent people. Ophideus has recently entered the employ of Helherren, quietly removing obstacles to Helherren's goals.

That's it for now. I'll post some more later.

Edit: Image links got screwed up some how. They're fixed now. I think there were too many images in the post.

A little plain, but a soild springboard. The use of the turtle shell on Ophidius shows that you're thinking in the right direction. Some more experimentaion with patterns and stickers would be good. Overall great start. (^_^)

Reaver

I wanted a character with Mitsurugi's moves and started goofing around with outfits. I liked the look of the Merveilleuse Dress with the Rubber Unitard as it kind of reminded me of Selene from the Underworld movies.

Reaver once served as second in command to Helherren. Once news reached her superiors of Helherren's disappearance, they ordered Reaver to bring him back or proof of his demise. Reaver is torn between her orders and loyalty to her former commander, and is not sure which way she will side when she find Helherren.

Celest

I was looking to make a sexy character and thought Viola's crystal ball move set looked pretty cool. Since the crystal ball made the character supernatural, I decided to go with a sky goddess theme.

An unknown sky goddess plunges to Earth with the purpose of making mischief through out the land. Taking the name Celest, she involves herself in random battles, influencing their outcomes for no other apparent reason than her amusement.

Noah Kilburn

With this character I just wanted to use all the cowboy stuff that was provided. Cervantes move set seemed the obvious choice since he's the only character that has guns. I used the Master weapon because the guns on it looked like something from the old west. For the first name I wanted something a little biblical but not too old timie. The last name just sort of came to me (kill and burn in a bandit's name seems fitting).

A ruthless bandit, Noah Kilburn is wanted by the authorities for theft and murder. On the run he is approached by Helherren who promises Noah sanctuary if he joins his forces. Noah agrees and becomes an enforcer, keeping Helherren's allies from wavering in their support.

Katsumi

I think I was just looking to use pink and white colour scheme when I made Katsumi. The design ended up being pretty basic with not too much going on in terms of parts or stickers. I used Maxi's move set. I looked for Japanese names on the internet and found Katsumi which means victorious beauty.

Trained in martial arts from an early age, Katsumi now goes out into the world seeking strong warriors to test herself against.

Greydon Hawk

Another one of my SC4 remakes. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to find many of the parts I used in SC4 for him and at first ended up with a pretty generic ninja. I later started messing around with him using stickers and ended up completely changing what I had from before. Uses Natsu's move set.

Greydon Hawk is part of a secret European "ninja" clan dedicated to protecting the continent from the most destructive of threats. Greydon has been tasked with investigating the Malfested phenomenon and looking into the rumours of a nationless rebel army with the potential to further inflame the current situation in Europe.

Thanks Samaras_Madness. I admit my creations aren't the most complex compared to some of the great stuff I've seen around here but hopefully I'll get some more inspiration from you guys.

Also here's my repost of Ghinjo. I had to remove her from the first post as it ended up being too many images.

Ghinjo

Another character based off a SC4 creation. Though the basic theme is the same, almost everything is changed from my SC4 creation, including the name. The name Ghinjo is a Swahili girl's name meaning "to slaughter". She uses Astaroth's move set.

Ghinjo was always larger and stronger than all others in her tribe. Quick to anger, Ghinjo was always being reprimanded for starting fights and injuring men and women who made insulting comments about her stature. One day she snapped the neck of a young man who had made a derisive comment towards her. The elders of her tribe, feeling Ghinjo was too dangerous to keep in the tribe, pronounced her exiled from the tribe. This was a grave error as a madness overtook Ghinjo leading her to slaughtered her tribe with none able to oppose her strength. Razing the remains of the village to the ground, Ghinjo collected the heads of the elders and shrunk them using rituals long ago forbidden. Stringing the heads together she wears them as a gruesome reminder of her past.

Ghinjo became a mercenary, traveling from battlefield to battlefield to alleviate her boredom. She now works for Helherren, leading a small group of mercenaries with the goal of humiliating opposing nations by absolutely decimating their armies.

Helena Cross

Once again I try to remake a character I created in SC4. This was mostly successful. I changed the hairstyle, which I like better than what I had in SC4. What I do miss from my original SC4 version was the long dress that showed cleavage mixed with the lacy see through item that partially covered it giving it a nice effect. Uses Tira's move set.

Helena comes from a family tradition of monster hunting which she proudly continues. This time however she seeks leads on the creature that killed her brother. Helena has few clues except for a large patch of shed snake skin found near her brother's body.

Thamuz

Here I was looking to create a character to use Nightmare's move set. Since Nightmare has some magical looking attacks I decided to create demonic character. Looking for demonic names on the internet Thamuz jumped out since apparently he's a "demon master of big weapons" and Nightmare's swords certainly fit that bill.

A demon from hell. Thamuz has been summoned to Earth by Helherren and is bound by dark sorcery. Thamuz chafes at being ordered around by a mere human but does as he is bid while keeping an eye open for the opportunity to gain his freedom and vengeance.

Cedric deVir

A very basic thought process created this character. I saw a short fat knight in the quick battle and I wanted one of my own. I don't know why, I just did.

Sir Cedric deVir is a french knight who is famous for both his exploits in battle and the distinctive ebon blade he wields. Going forth Sir Cedric looks to end the threat to his country from the Malfested.

Unger

Unger is my caveman character. I used Aeon's move set because, aside from the flying and spitting fire, it was appropriately primitive looking. I recoloured the Meat on the Bone weapons to make the meat look like stone and the bones wood so they would look more like clubs than food. The name was the best I could come up with as all the other caveman names I thought sounded too silly. I also wish there was a voice set that was just all grunts, groans and roars as Unger speaks English a little too well for a caveman.

Unger was part of lost tribe of stone age savages hidden deep within the mountains. He wears the bones of strange creatures which he believes gives him power. Returning to his village from a hunt he finds it destroyed and his people slain. Swearing vengeance, he follows their track out of the mountains, leaving their safety for the first time in his life.

Red Phoenix

With Red Phoenix I wanted someone with Patroklos move set and I wanted to use the Absolution Mask. Not much else really went into the character concept. I just experimented with different things.

No one knows the true identity of the legendary mercenary know and Red Phoenix. What people do know is that though the price for her services seem exorbitant, they are well worth it as her introduction to battlefield has never failed to turn the tide in her employer's favour. So far Red Phoenix has mysteriously not taken part in any of the current conflicts despite many petitions from various lords and kings. This has made the nobility of the continent very nervous since such a powerful woman possibly working towards her own goals instead of the goals of the established rulers is most dangerous.

Sekhmet

I originally created this cat girl character in SC4. A few differences from her SC4 incarnation is that she now wears the Absolution Skirt instead of the short pants I had her in before. I also had her in the Dancer's Breastplate before but for some reason this conflicts with Absolution Skirt.

Sekhmet is and Egyptian goddess who has been stripped of her godhood and cast down due to the trickery of her sister Bast. Trapped on Earth, she seeks out anyone or anything with super natural power that she may use to regain her own power to return to full godhood and punish Bast for her treachery.

Zahra

An Egyptian styled character I had in SC4. The main difference with this version is that in SC4 I was able to use the opera mask with the Horus Vizard where in SC5 its conflict. I added green eye protectors and gave her green face paint to give the suggestion of a fuller helmet.

Egypt has been under the rule of Ottoman Empire since the early 14th century. Zahra is a warrior priestess of Horus who dreams of casting out the overlords who serve the Ottoman empire and a return to glorious autonomy for her country. News comes from Europe of battles being fought and strange powers involved. "Perhaps I can harness this power for myself and use it to rally my countrymen to free Egypt." With this thought in mind she leaves the temple without, leave from the high priest, and begins the long journey north.

Master Meng

With Master Meng I was looking to make and evil old kung fu master. Looking for a Chinese name on the internet i found Meng meaning "savage, energetic" which i thought fit. Master Meng uses Xiba's move set.

A legendary martial artist in China, Master Meng is also well know for the brutality of his training. But despite this reputation, many seek his tutelage as those who have completed his lesson became incredibly strong fighters. Master Meng's fortunes have recently taken a turn for the worse as he has recently killed the son of a high ranking official who failed to dodge one of his strikes in training. Forced to leave the country to escape an execution order, Master Meng hears of the disruption in Europe. Firmly believing that man's greatest potential is brought out through conflict, Master Meng heads west in the hopes that joining in the battles will bring about enough strength in him to return to his homeland and crush his enemies.

Hachiro

Hachiro is a pretty basic samurai character. I used Alpha Patroklos' style because I think its a cool style for a samurai character and I miss Mitsurugi's sheathed sword stance. I settled on the name Hachiro (eighth son) after failing to find anything on the internet that was appropriate and that I like for this character.

Hachiro is a good natured, wandering swordsman. Having little more than the sword he carries, Hachiro looks to sell his skills. Preferring jobs such as bodyguard and caravan guard, Hachiro tries stay out of more complicated and troublesome conflicts. Unfortunately trouble has a way of finding him, sweeping Hachiro into the current conflict as the caravan he's currently guarding is attacked by the Malfested.

Sir Robin

This is my first SC5 character that based on another character. I was looking to create a male sword and shield character, but having already used Patroklos's and Pyrrha Omega's move set that just left me with regular Pyrrha. Sure I could of reused the other two move sets but I like to try to get all the move sets used. So I had to think a bit since Pyrrha's poses are kind of girly and nor really appropriate for some big tough guy. I remembered Sir Robin, the cowardly knight from Monty Python's The Holy Grail, and thought that would be perfect for the style. Unfortunately he looks older than what I wanted, but that was the youngest face available that also had the proper mustache. I also couldn't find a pattern or sticker set that resembled a chicken like he had in movie, so I settled for using a European pattern and colouring it yellow. The last thing I was unhappy with was the amount of clipping there was with the surcoat. I could have taken away the hauberk underneath but it made the character look like it was missing something. Fortunately the clipping doesn't seem as bad in actual game play.

The king of England has decreed that his knights go forth to protect the lands from the Malfested threat. Sir Robin wanted no part of such quest, being perfectly content to lounge in his villa despite the accusations of cowardice his servants whispered behind his front. This changed when the local lord paid a visit Sir Robin and commanded him to take up the quest or be hung for being an embarrassment of knight and a mark of shame for the lord. Now left with no alternatives, Sir Robin bravely takes up arms and prepares to enter the conflict.

Sugoku Kage

I was looking to make a joke character and I thought having a ninja with Dampierre's move set would be kind of funny.

Carl Jones was young sailor working on any ships that would take him. Carl always dreamt of being a great warrior but had no idea how to best go about. The ship he was currently working on was docked in a Japanese port. Given some shore leave after a long and arduous trip, Carl set about with the rest of the crew to get drunk. After a night of hard drinking, Carl stumbled out and wandered into a dark alley as he tried to find his way back to the ship. In that alley he wandered into a fight between two swordsmen, one dressed in garb typical to the area, the other wearing black from head to toe, including a mask that covered his face. The masked man dispatched his foe with such speed and skill that Carl became inspired. The next day Carl asked the locals about the masked man who told him in hushed respected tones that what he probably saw was a ninja and that Carl was lucky he was alive to tell the tale. Now that he knew what it was he saw Carl became determined that he wanted to become a ninja. Not returning to the ship, Carl began to journey across Japan, picking up some of the language along the way, in search of a ninja school or trainer. After months of trying and failing to find any trace of ninjas anywhere, Carl returned to the nearest port town to find ship leaving the country. Drinking at a tavern with a merchant, Carl was finishing sharing his story with him when the merchant spoke that he could help. Hope instant rekindled when the merchant showed Carl the absolutely genuine ninja weapons he was selling. At this point Carl decided he would buy the weapons and cloth to make his own ninja outfit. He would then train himself in ninjaing and become the greatest ninja warrior the world had ever seen. No longer would he answer to Carl Jones, he would become the Super Shadow, Sugoku Kage!

Crimson Dove

A recreation of another character I made in SC4. I couldn't find the same top I used in SC4 so I used the Noble's Dress. Unfortunate that conflicts with the cape I wanted to use so I settled for the Arabian Vest and Warrior's Pauldron. I also added the pistol but didn't want it just there, attached to nothing, so I tried making a leg strap with the ball item since I didn't like what the belts did to the rest of the outfit. The leg strap does look a little weird so I'm not sure if I'll keep it.

It is a mystery how such a young girl became the Captain of the pirate ship, The Lady of Storms, but what is not questioned is her ruthlessness. Crimson Dove is not only known for raiding merchant ships but for seeking out and destroying any other pirate vessel who sails the waters she deems as her territory. Her current target is Cervantes and The Adrian. While rumour of unnatural power held by Cervantes has made her men nervous, it has only emboldened Crimson Dove to crush The Adrian and cement her reputation as the most feared pirate of the high seas.

Your characters look and sound interesting to me. I look forward to seeing more of your CaS works, hoping that you'll improve some more while doing so.

Later! :)

shows promise, good designs, assembled with taste.
What i'd say as constructive criticism is that :
* not overly original themes
* a bit on the simplistic side sometimes (meaning : patterns are sorely lacking on some CAS)

keep it up !

Thanks for everyone's comments!
I'll definitely look to steal some techniques from around here to make future designs a little more interesting.

nice ones, i personally like Hachiro the best. i'm more of less is better type of designed myself (as most people can tell you about my work) so the simple samurai look looks good to me.

A couple more characters I created recently.

Nasir al Din

This is my attempt at creating an Arab warrior. The design is fairly simple. I decided to give him a bit of a moon theme and added them to his wrists, forehead and cape. At first his clothes had a worn brownish grey colour to suggest a well traveled nomad but as my concept of him evolved to more of a holy warrior, I decided to go with a cleaner white and black theme. I added arm tattoos since they were looking a little plain. Originally Nasir was meant to use ZWEI's move set but I ended up choosing Mitsurugi's since one of his weapons is a scimitar. The name Nasir al Din means protector of the faith.

In the Arabian Desert there is a small desert tribe known to the Bedouins as The Tribe of the Moon. The entire tribe is dedicated to protecting the desert from supernatural threats. Though they are distrusted by other tribes for their blasphemous merging of Islam with pagan moon worship, none harass them due to the strength of their warriors and the tribe's effectiveness in eliminating all dangers from beyond.

Recently the Bedouins have been suffering from an unnatural sickness that leads to madness. Nasir al Din, one of many of the moon tribe investigating the matter, hears of an indecently dressed European woman carrying a weapon in the shape of a large ring who had been spotted speaking to some of the victims before they fell ill. "So the infidels again bring their wickedness to our lands. Well they shall soon learn that their actions carry a heavy price!" With thoughts of retribution in mind, Nasir sets forth to find who or what is responsible for poisoning the souls of the people and to put a stop to it once and for all.

Sersie

I was looking for a concept for a character to use ZWEI's move set and decided on a summoner type sorceress. I used a lot of trial and error when creating Sersie so, other than the purple and black colour scheme, I didn't really have a concrete plan for her. After creating her I considered having her use Viola's move set, but decided to keep ZWEI's since I already have a Viola character and Sersie fits my summoner/ritual caster concept. All in all I'm pretty happy with how she turned out.

In the Aegean Sea there is an island hidden by mists. On this island is a tower occupied by a sorceress named Sersie who holds knowledge of many things dark and terrible. For hundreds of years the sorceress has been content on her island, using her arcane rituals to further probe the depths of things and places that should not be. Lately, however, her magicks have grown wild and unpredictable much to Sersie's displeasure. Angered by the interference, she casts her thoughts out into the world to search for source. "So, Soul Calibur and Soul Edge again have awoken to make war with each other. Do these foolish creatures know nothing of restraint? Their conflict has grown to the point that it threatens to destroy all they seek to control." Knowing that the two entities must be stopped, Sersie risks invoking a ritual to bind one of the ancient wolf spirits to assist in subduing the swords. It takes her five days to complete the ritual, but she is successful. Gathering a sword left by a misguided warrior who once sought her life, Sersie boards her small boat and makes for the mainland with methods and means to cast the spirits' of the swords forever into the outer dark.

Your costumes are simple and solid, not too busy and they get the job done.
But I have to mention you have one of the best eyes for makeup I've seen. Celest, Sersie, and Helena all have amazingly effective makeup!

Thanks!
I find that Sersie has quickly become a favourite of mine. I do find her makeup gives a great menacing feel to her.
