Hi, I'm another nub

janejana

[09] Warrior
Hello. My name's Jane, I usually go by the handle janejana, and like a lot of people I've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to sign up.

I've been playing SC since it came out on the Dreamcast, although SC2 is my favorite and ate a lot of my free time in college. :) I don't have much experience with 3.

As for SC4, I played a ton of online with a small group of friends for the first year it was out, but I haven't really had a good, long session for ages. I'd love to have some new SC players on my friends list to get ready for SC5. My mains are Raphael and Taki but I'm pretty scrubby in general. ^^;

I have almost no offline experience, at least as far as SC4 is concerned. I live in New Hampshire, about an hour from Boston; I used to be big into the arcade scene back in '04-'08 but since I moved out of MA I've lost touch with a lot of the people who used to play games offline. :( Anyway, I hope I can change that in the near future.

Welcome, janejana. I run the New England SC scene (tournaments, gatherings, etc). We have a pretty big community here, and more are always welcome.

We session every week Tuesday and Friday night at a place called GameUnderground in Framingham MA. On Fridays they tend to stay open till 1-2am. When SC5 drops, I will be running weeklies there, as well as a monthly where we typically get visitors from other scenes, NY/NJ/PA area, and sometimes other far travelling guests. We have a pretty good talent pool here.

Feel free to hit me up in this thread or a PM for more details.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Welcome to the 8wayrun family you can officially call yourself an 8wayrunner anyway i KNOW you don't play with nightmare but if you get ever feel the ergeee to play with him the nightmare community of 8wayrun would be glad to help you :D

If you're interested in hanging with Idle and company, you'll be deadset on leveling up faster than doing tedious online. Aside from that, Pocky Yoshi says hello and is pleased to meet you.

It's nice to see old vets returning to the series. I gotta say, between your past experience, genuine enthusiasm and eagerness to meet people for offline play you seem poised to become a really good player. I wish you the best of luck.

I think come SCV's release, if you're willing to travel a little you should be able to make plenty of new friends you can play offline against :). You're also pretty lucky to be near Idle's roost. From what I hear he's going to have a really nice environment for SCV, providing controller converters himself and all.

I almost don't wanna tell you to check out the online thread, lol. You might learn some bad habits. But you say you're looking for new players to add to your friend's list so I guess I should. You can feel free to add me too, always looking for people to get less scrubby with. Wish I could say I was a pro, but I'm not. ><

Also when things get rolling for SCV, might be a good idea to keep your eye on the new england thread over here:

what first got my attention was your avatar from one of my favorite game Resonance of Fate. but yeah there are a great deal of cool people online that would show you the basics (like myself) if they don't personally know character. the online mode forum doesn't have everyone plus it's a lot of searching. so what I do is look on the other forums for the good games thread. it's up to date and those people are normally on for a daily basis.

It's a good suggestion.

Might add if you wanna get less scrubby there's the soul arenas and people online who are friendly will generally have some good tips for you provided you're willing to listen to them.

But man I know once I start linking too much stuff it becomes a hassle to check out any of it.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I didn't realize there was already an established NE scene - hopefully I'll be able to drop in before SC5 comes out. :)

I have a little bit of experience when it comes to switching to offline from online. And by that I mean I know that spamming lows doesn't work offline, lol.

But seriously, a big part of the reason I'd like some more offline play is because I have no idea of how well I'd do in a game without having to constantly keep lag in mind. <_< Well, that and I miss the arcade/offline gaming scene in general....I had a lot of fun even though I wasn't particularly competitive or hardcore. ^^

We actually had one of the largest scenes in the country for a long time before the scene in general died down, as well as the biggest major tournament in SC4 in terms of scale. The SC2 scene here died off when SC3 dropped, and SC4 brought some of it back along with alot of new people. Myself, I've been playing competitive SC since SC1.

We are sessioning this Friday if you want to come down; we usually get there around 6. Dunno how many are coming, at least 5 and as many as 10 on a given night. We tend to run until 1-2am, and we usually grab chinese at the place next door to chill/talk about matches or whatever else. You might be surprised to know you probably won't be the only girl in the scene (thought you might be the only one at the session).
