Need help finding a character to play.

Huntertalos

[08] Mercenary
Hey guys, I just recently decided I was going to try and get good at soul calibur 5 after playing 3 and 4 but only casually with my friends and I was wondering if someone could tell me which character they think I would enjoy the most as i obviously want to focus on just one of them.

I'd say the most important thing is that they are at least decently fast and have some good range. I would also like a character that isn't too obscenely hard to learn but has some decent complexity to play once I get better. Thank you for any and all hope I receive.

I absolutely love Ivy.

I have mained her in every Soulcalibur game that I have played (Soulcalibur 2-5).
Go to her FAQ and General Discussion Thread here and ask some questions on where to begin, and we will point you in the right direction. She has great range, pretty easy to learn but when you get too good for her, you can try learning her command grab (Calamity Symphony). She has some fast moves but some are also quite slow.

And welcome to 8wayrun!

I would suggest Pyrrha or leixia. I mained their mommies in the previous games so it makes them easier to play in my opinion.

Fast with good range, I would say Xiba, Hilde, Ivy, and Raphael. No particular order. Mitsurugi and Cervantes also fall on the list, though Cervantes is a bit slower in my opinion.

Isn't too hard to learn might weed out Hilde, since she has charge moves that I won't be bothered with. But at least try her out, maybe you'd like her. Xiba and Ivy are good bets. You should experiment with all characters though! Best of luck =)

I'd say Ivy, Xiba, or Misturugi. I love playing as Ivy, Xiba is meh imo, and Mitsu is almost as boring as S&S. All these characters fit the given traits though. Coming from a Sieg main. :D

Hey man, are you on XBL? I really need a Sieg I can run sets with, as I get bodied by your character lol.

I won't be on until tomorrow, My XBL is DestroFraud, so don't be sketched out if you get a friend request from a fraud lol

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've been trying both Xiba and Ivy and I enjoy both of them quite a bit now I just need to decide which of the two I prefer.

Hey Destro I saw a really awesome match of yours on FahrosTTTT's youtube channel and I got to say you're a really amazing Nightmare
Ah thanks man, Margin would fuck me up any day though, I just play a character with a huge advantage over his, plus he'd never seen how I play, but thanks again, if you're on XBL and decide to practice a bit with Nightmare, I'll show you some tricky stuff, and run sets with ya!

You must be good if you are getting that far in the tournament :P

I'd like to consider myself, a little bit above starter, but I've really only been playing for about 2 months now. The last Soul game I played was SC2, and I was like 7 when the came out (Gamecube 4 life) lol. Hows the EU tourney going?

Thanks alot man I really appreciate the offer but I'm currently on PSN

Weird posts in this thread...
You said want a character that has decent range and speed, is not too hard to play at first but offers some complexity later on?
To me, it screams Leixia.

Forget Xiba, once you've learned all his moves you might as well masturbate with the staff and the result will be the same. You get butchered by anyone good until you learn to play like a little girl. You butcher everyone else no matter how bad you play.
Forget about Ivy being decent at first, unless you're fighting against players who don't know anything about her and are unwilling to learn.

Leixia has speed and range. Her tools are strong, her mixups are actually valid and varied, and her combos are very simple and easy. Once you reach a higher level of play, you can start getting wiser about purposely using the built-in defensive properties of her attacks as well as her delays and cancels. This is depth/complexity on demand for you.

I'm a fighting type of guy, I do fighting sports and when it comes to fighting games, I think about that. I like characters who have balanced stances with a little bounce. It makes me fell balanced when I fight.

First Talim, Yoshi, now Leixia.

Add: Play around with some characters.
