Numbers = directions in the game corresponding to the number pad on a keyboard.

1 = Down back.
2 = Down.
3 = Down Forwad.
4 = Back.
5 = Neutral (sometimes shown as a star or *)
6 = Forward.
7 = Up back.
8 = Up.
9 = Up forward.
Letters are the same as they are in game for commands. A for horizontals, B for verticals and K for kicks. G is of course for guard.
Default setup on PS3/Xbox controller is:
Square/X = A
Triangle/Y = B
Circle/B = K
X/A = G
