This has been a subject that has been bothering for a while...

It has occurred to me that some parents are willing to expose their children to violent material, but are far less comfortable about nudity.

So, let me get this straight... Some folks would rather the young ones be exposed to people getting shot up, stabbed, gutted, crushed, and fucking mutilated than to see a naked person.

Countries have varied opinions on nudity. America seems to view nudity as a greater taboo and Japan (I think) views violence as greater taboo.

...and for some reason, female nudity is viewed as a greater taboo than male nudity...

You picked the wrong countries to be honest. Islamic countries tend to have the harshest laws and opinions on nudity. Some of those countries will have less laws about violence as well.

Japan seems to have a confusing stance on sex and nudity. You realize Japan was one of the few countries to literally censor all it's porn right? Guns are illegal but suicide is acceptable. Also someone else can smack your kid there and it would be acceptable. As far as military, they want one but America stops them from building one. So I don't think it's a great example.

Netherlands would probably be a better example of nudity over violence. That's where Amsterdam is. Tons of nudity, drugs, prostitution, and fairly low on violence.

Also its probably better to specify what nudity and what violence we are talking about. Like being nude on T.V. or being nude in a restaurant. One poses an health issue, the other one doesn't.

Perhaps this content in fiction, but we talk real life as well.

Uh, what?

This game got a T-Rating in the USA, but the CERO gave this game a C (which is the equivalent of the ESRB's M).

But in Japan they have those "ecchi" anime which (I think) is aimed toward males in High School.

...but I've known about this stuff since I was in middle school. You could probably blame anime like these as to why some people think of anime as just "High School girls getting raped by tentacles".

Probably 11 or 12 actually. What about you Alex?

I don' remember the exact age. I'm also older and didn't have a computer and internet until junior high. Internet changes everything, before that, kids had to look at Playboys and etc.

Actually, the Japanese equivalent to the M rating is D. C means 15+, a rating that North America doesn't have.

First time I saw porn was when I found some of the videos and magzines my brother had when I was around 7 or 8.
