Obligatory Introduction Thread

Deadwing

[08] Mercenary
Hello~
This might be a fairly long post, as I'd really like to get to know the community. (:
You can just call me Deadwing, or DW. I'm a nineteen year-old college student from NJ.
I'm a convention kid and musician; I've been surrounded by games and pop culture my entire life.

I've been into Soul Calibur for years now- ever since SCII, my first.
In SCII, I mained Yun-seong and Cassandra. My sparring partner was my bestie, who mained Nightmare. We played for literally days at a time, often having SC "parties" and whatnot.
At this point, I would've considered us to be on a middle-high skill level.

SCIII came and went. I don't remember it too well, but that's mostly due to my friend's departure and lack of anyone to play it with.

I've played a lot of SCIV, but not nearly enough to be considered good at it. Yun-seong and Cassandra have changed quite a bit since the second installment, and I dropped the former quickly, as his new design and attitudes were a turn off.
As it stands, I can play Cassandra and Siegfried well with a small level of skill; moreso Siegfried.
I dislike playing him though, as, well; He -was- Nightmare, and he's not really "mine to play."

With the fifth installment on the horizon, I'd like to practice the basics on SCIV before moving on to the next. This gives me a month to prepare myself.
I'm also interested in the competitive scene, and would love to compete someday.

Thanks for taking the time to read~
I hope we can all be great friends. C:

Welcome on the site Deadwing. Its a good thing that you get yourself ready for the 5th installment by playing the 4th more seriously if i can say it that way. Im also doing this a bit even tough i have to polish my UMVC3 skills for an upcoming tournament. :D Hope to play you soon. XD

Pocky Yoshi says hello and is pleased to meet you. He didn't read your post at all. He just knows that you're a NJ 19 year old who plans to go competitive someday..........Okay he did read it. He still doesn't like you.

*shows defiant expression*

...W-what did I do? D:

::ahem::
Thanks guys. (:
Weird news!

Y'know how I mentioned maining Cassandra?
Well, I finally got back to playing SCIV today, and... well;
I think I'm in love with Hilde.

I've jumped on the bandwagon, it seems. ): I chose her because I like her as a character, though.
And by the time I'm good, SCV will be out, so she'll be nerfed anyway. :P

Hi, I don't like you.

Just kidding, Be cool. This is a welcome hi from a fellow college student. :)

Ah! I actually got a little scared for a moment. ;_;
...then I noticed the invisible gray font.

Thanks for the welcome hi. (:
You get a thank you hi-five. :'D

Hi! It's always nice to see new players. You're saying you play Cassandra? So do I! (although I prefer Sophitia). Siegfried is also cool. And Hilde you said? Good luck with that, she's hard to master, but invincible in the right hands. Just be aware that a "doom" combo was discovered for her, which has gotten her banned in most major tournaments, but she was fixed in 5, and there should be no problem with her, I'm actually planning to main her along with Pyrrha.

You said you're interested in being a competitive player, huh? Well, you're on the right place! Just tell us where you live, and you'll most likely find someone to play with! And also, do you play online? If so, in what system?

Anyways, welcome aboard!

Thanks for taking the time to read~

D'awww... Nice to have you aboard kiddo. Another competitor enters the fray! If you're really looking to get into the competitive scene then you came to the right place. The community here is real friendly and chock full of strategies and analysis to help you crush many skulls and leave only ruin in your wake. MWUAHAHA... well you look so friendly that crushing skulls may not be your thing. But you know, friendly is good, in the tournament scene people have to conduct themselves with a certain level of civility and honor because you've got face to face interactions going on.

I would say if you want to get competitive and play people offline it wouldn't hurt to check out our regional match finder. It'll tell you if there's any events going on in your area, I expect it to be a hive of activity soon.

As a personal aside. Sigh, Cassy I miss ya already.
