So add me to the list of newbies hyped by the awesomeness of Soul Calibur V videos.

I've played Street Fighter and various other 2D fighters competitively for a bit over a year now (as in I follow the competitive scene and play to win; I am not on par with higher level competition T_T). I've dabbled in Tekken 3, 5 and 6 a bit in the past but that's as far as my experience with 3D fighters go. Unfortunately, I haven't played much SC in the past and just picked up Broken Destiny for my PSP (I can't seem to get my hands on a copy of SC4 on PS3). So far, I'm having a lot of fun messing around in BD. I don't care much for tiers but I've found Hilde and Cassandra to be my 2 favorite characters so far XD. Seeing as Hilde is in SC5, I've been practicing more with her even though she seems to be a more unorthodox character than Cass.

Anyways, I hope to get the hang of the game by the time SC5 comes out so I'll be lurking around 8wayrun for a while XD

Hi Unlimitied! Welcome to 8WayRun! You couldn't have joined at a better time. There's some new information that's going to be revealed THIS MONTH about SC5. The thing people are looking forward to the most is finding out which Bonus Character is going to be in SC5. Project Soul is going to tell us that THIS MONTH!

Seeing that you've got experience with SF and Tekken, but not so much with SC, you maynot be familiar with the notations that we use for listing moves. SF and TK use the b, d/b, d, d/f, f ect... to list the directional inputs, we on the other hand use numbers to list them. One of our senior moderators made a post explaining how to read these whih you can find here: 8WR General Directory and Offline Matchfinder Reception

You can refer to that thread if you ever run into something that you don't recognise. If your question isn't answered there, feel free to shoot me a PM, or post your question in this thread, or even in the Basic Q&A Thread that we have here. You'll find that our community is very friendly and helpful so I hope you don't hesitate to ask about anything.

Have you tried looking for a copy of SC4 online? I'm almost certain you can get a great deal on them. I just did a quick search myself and these are the results I came up with: SCIV PS3 Unfortunately, we don't have much information on SC: Broken Destiny. I'm afraid with it being on the PSP, we never really did any studying on it since it could never be played as a serious competitive game. You may find some information in characters Soul Arena's here, like Hilde and Cass for example: Hilde BD Changes | Cass BD Changes. Broken Destiny is pretty much the same as SC4 with some nerfs and buffs, and a new character. So you can generally use the same strats as SC4.

So where are you from? There might be a SC community that is near you. You can use the Regional Matchmaking forum to see if there is a thread for your area. Go ahead and introduce yourself there as well. If you don't see one, feel free to start one yourself.

I live in the middle east so not much of a scene here unfortunately... Although I hope that will change with SC5. I have a couple of friends who play SC4 although they picked it up in preparation for SC5 like I did. I've considered buying SC4 online, but buying it (or anything in small bundles for that matter) online can be a hassle here so I'm looking at local stores that I can order through.

Thanks for the informative post Enkidu. I'll be having a look through the beginner threads to try to get used to the way things work in this game. And yeah, I'm pretty hyped for more reveals this month :P

I'm a little shocked you're not from Australia... you're not are you? Because I wouldn't hold it against you... mate? In any event, welcome to the boards. It's always nice to see more people boarding the hype train. You might find some of the match vids from the SCV Kayane invitational interesting, some Hilde play in there.

Haha thanks for the links. Gets me pumped up ^^ And no, I'm not from Australia. I'm from the middle east where there is almost no soul calibur scene. I'm hoping to at least get my friends into this game and spread the hype :P
