Soul Calibur CAS Chinese Character Meanings?

V.Rozaria

Not sure if this is the right area to post this but if there a guide anywhere saying what each of the Chinese Characters mean? I'm looking for which Chinese characters mean (If they're even in there): "Demon/Devil", "Love", "Wolf", "Boss/Master", and "Fang". I also want to know what these following characters mean:
  • Chinese Character 26
  • Chinese Character 27
  • Chinese Character 33
  • Chinese Character 39
  • Chinese Character 43
  • Chinese Character 74
  • Chinese Character 93
  • Chinese Character 107
  • Chinese Character 130
I really appreciate it if someone helped me with this, thanks!

This for all please.

Yeeaaah... Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't label the characters with a translated meaning instead of the generic "Chinese Character X". So, what, we're supposed to just pick the ones that look cool? Hmph!

So I must echo this request. Translations please!

I can ask my wife I guess. It would make it easier for me if you would post an image of each one you want the meaning of, or even a sketch, rather than make me go into CAS and say, "Hey, what does this one mean?" typetypetype, "Okay, now what does this one mean?" typetypetype... Also, I'm not even sure I've unlocked them all.

Oh, sorry, I'll update the OP with some pictures when I have some time.

It's cool, I was in creation anyway
* Chinese Character 26 happy
* Chinese Character 27 sad
* Chinese Character 33 palace? (She didn't actually know, but guessed palace)
* Chinese Character 39 autumn
* Chinese Character 43 fire
* Chinese Character 74 life
* Chinese Character 93 metal (literally, gold)
* Chinese Character 107 big
* Chinese Character 130 wood

Well your wife that I said thanks for taking the time to translate. Sadly, I'm disappointed in what they mean excluding "Fire", Autumn", and "Life", those ones are neat.

You do not understand how many males have now redesigned their male characters to have Chinese symbol 107 and 130 together on the back of their clothing or as a tatoo because of your good deed...

*Wait's for the random wave of big wood*

FYI, the characters are Japanese Kanji, while it looks like Chinese, the meaning can be different, such as the character for "withhold" in Chinese really means samurai in Japanese.

Anyone unlock the sticker for love yet? I've been putting a sticker that I thought was love on a bunch of my CaS, only to find out it meant "deer". lol

Really? The Namco guy in charge of those stickers is a complete moron.

That may explain the confusion on the one she thought was palace.

Otherwise she had no trouble reading them, so IDK, they must be close enough to Chinese characters to pass. I'm clueless myself, so I'm just guessing.

YOu can go with which ever meaning you want, Chinese vs. Japanese, depending on your intent, I dont think Leixia would have Kanji on her clothes, while Mitsurugi would.

Just remember that some words will take on a completely different meaning in Chinese vs. Japanese, such that you need multiple characters in Chinese to actually mean something, while in Japanese only one Kanji character would suffice.

Such as the character for withhold/endure in Chinese vs. samurai in Kanji... in Chinese it doesn't mean anything if you don't say what you are withholding or enduring from.

Well, I just asked her and she said that they are indeed traditional chinese characters. If they're also Japanese characters, that's something I can't tell you about. I guess in cases like "palace," where the character didn't make any sense by itself, they probably meant for it to be the kanji. In other cases, take your pick I guess.

Kanji is derived from Chinese characters, so there is a lot of overlap in meanings.

Actually it means to "wait on" or "to serve" in chinese.
